Making a new belt hole

So, how do I go about making a new hole in my belt? I have a couple of belts which need a new hole (or two) and rather than buying new belts, I'd like to make new holes. I totally dress down in my current job, so it's not worth it to me to spend the extra money. Could a shoe repair person do this for me??

Thanks in advance!

A shoe repair place should have a 'punch' that can do this. I used to take a knife to mine when necessary, but it always looked crappy (didn't care though cause it was just to keep my pants up, not an accessory).

I just wanted to say how great it is that you need to add holes to your belt. I am working hard to get there myself.

Again, congrats!

The shoe repair person in my area does it. I think they can also just cut some out and make it smaller instead of making a new hole...great job!

Yes, a good shoe repair shop can do wonders with belts, shoes, bags. They restore things and you're left amazed. Definitely take it there.

Thanks for the comments!

I'll be taking the belt collection to the shop this weekend. I can clearly remember the days when the belts were tight, so it's quite exciting to have them reduced.

An awl and a hammer will do the trick as well. :-)
