Mexican food is my favorite too. I usually choose one small thing on the menu that I like and just practice portion control.

I think that fajitas are generally considered the healthiest thing on a Mexican menu because everything is grilled and you don't have to put anything on it that you don't want to (guac, sour cream, cheese). Avoid things like chimichangas, which are deep-fried. Eat half the rice, and enjoy the beans if they don't seem greasy - all that fiber and protein will keep you full!

One of my little tricks for dealing with the chips and salsa: pour some of the salsa on your side plate and use the chip as a spoon, taking just a tiny bite of the chip. After all, it's the salsa that tastes good, and it's healthy :)

Some restaurants will have a black bean soup. Just make sure they leave off the dollop of sour cream on the top! If you're going to a chain, see if they have a website with menu/nutrition info and strategize.

I agree with 4:19 ... fajitas are probably your best bet.

You can also request that the ingredients not be cooked in any oils ... even though they are "grilled" the veggies will still be cooked in some type of fat. You can also pass on the tortilla; instead of creating a burrito just eat the ingredients as they are and opt for the beans instead of the rice.

Have fun and good luck!

beans and rice and salsa. No chips! Eat a fistful, that's how big your stomach is.

OP here! Those were such good ideas guys! I didn't have any chips!!! I ordered a side of corn tortillas and dipped them in the salsa. Then I ordered chicken fajitas. I had two with guacamole and salsa and broght the rest home. Then I ate some beans and rice! It felt so good knowing I was eating Mexican (my favorite) but that I wasn't taking in as much fat and calories as I usually do! Thanks!!!! Ü
