What are the February Blues?

I guess this thread is only for those who live in Nordic climates like myself! :)

I'm not the op, but february blues can range from mild to severe depression, which can be diagnosed as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). (more information in link below)
I was diagnosed with SAD in highschool and gradually came out of major depression with use of a special 'light box'.
But to combat mild depression, or february blues, I agree with the poster who suggested exercise. Especiallly outdoor exercise. Even if it is cloudy it can help by increasing your exposure to natural daylight.
Also, make sure you're getting enough sleep!

I'm on an anti-depressant just for the 4 months of harsh winter because I suffer from SAD. they really help me, but I was hesitant for years to go on any medication. Little things I do to lift my spirits are planning a spring wardrobe hehe or marking down the first day of spring, or planning a day trip for the first day its 65 degrees:) I try to use february to prepare for spring...cleaning...rejuvinating etc...it helps to remind me that winter WILL end!

I got many different colors of tulips for my house! I smile every time I see them. I also started using a lotion with some tint in it, makes me feel a bit better not being so pasty.

Get moving and get out into the sunlight if you can. Just bundle up and go for a brisk walk.

February usually grinds me into the dust. So, this year, I challenged myself to a gym ironman- 2.4 miles of swimming, 112 miles of cycling, 26.2 miles of running- it's a decent challenge for a lousy short month.

Force myself out of bed in the morning and out for a run.

Flowers in the house. Forced tulips and daffodils. My husband often gives me tulip bulbs for Valentine's Day.
And getting outside EVERY chance I get!

I second the flowers. March is right around the corner, hang on!
