vdarling is out of town and out of touch for the weekend. You might want to ask her again later.

50 pounds in 10 weeks? That seems like an extreme amount of weight and unsafe at that. I checked the log and I see hardly any exercise so i am wondering if this person has had surgery or a lap band. Does anyone know? I guess I also find myself wondering how someone can lose 50 pounds in just 10 weeks without exercise, surgery or pills? Can anyone help me understand this?

50 pounds in less than 3 months? My doctor told me I should never allow myself to lose more than 2 lbs of fat a week and anything more than that would most likely be water and muscle. I hope she doesn't get gallstones and hopefully her doctor is monitoring this.

the diet she is following looks like a bodybuilers diet that they use right before competion..ive done it and you lose alot but as soon as you start eating again the weight comes back on really fast

She started out at more than 300 lbs and that is why 50 lbs in 10 weeks sounds so drastic. When you are that overweight, slight diet changes and exercise really add up because her body would require more calories to stay at that weight and would burn more calories than someone who weighs 150 lbs. Her weight loss will slow down as she gets close to her goal.

She has been working very hard and doing this very healthfully.
Congratulations vdarling!

She is eating very healthful whole foods, and she does indeed workout. She runs, walks, lifts weights, dances, deliberately eats scientific combinations of food to fire up her metabolism. She is very health conscious and is in tune with what her body is saying to her, much better than I am. She actively searches for ways to build activity into her daily life.

She won't go back to eating "normally" as the poster above was concerned about, because she has changed her whole relationship with food, movement, and her lifestyle. She is eating now much as she always will eat, and when she is the correct weight for her, it will support and maintain her. I am not only one of her teammates, but also am in personal contact with her as a friend. She is doing great, she had a lot of weight to lose, and as the above poster pointed out, when you have a lot to go, it goes faster at the beginneing.

She is doing fine. I am very happy for her.

Oh, I forgot to say, her practitioner is overseeing this.

The only reason I can think of for one of the above posters to not see her exercise is if that poster only read that 1 log and does not read them regularly.. vdarling was deep in preparation for her weekend trip (survival training, of all things!) both at work and at home, and so, no workout at that moment. I have watched her exercise and food changes for 3 months now. She is far more active than most people 1/2 her weight. My partner is a runner, and he is in a running challenge with her.

this "new" diet that she started on march 3rd is the one i was talking about that boby builders use and there is no way you can maintain it long trem. also she is eating like 1000-1200 calories which is not healthy if you weight that much. i cant not believe she is doing this with a DR? but if she is and she can keep it off for over a year when she gets down to her goal i would give her much credit. for me taking the bulk of my weight off has never been the issue..its always the last 20 lbs and then keeping it off for any amount of time where i fail misrebly

I'm sorry but in the last 10 days I only see 2 workouts. I think its great she she has lost so much in such a short time but really she's not so active and rarely works out unless I'm just not seeing it in her workout section. She does have a huge amount of stuff to wade through so if her workouts aren't in the workout section I wouldn't see it. I don't think she eats bad though and people that size usually start out on a small calorie intake such as 1000-1200. I hope she continues her success.

A lot of debbie downers on this thread, and skeptic susans. I've followed her from the beginning and she is doing it in a complete healthy way. VDarling, you go girl, these people are jealous or having a bad day or something of the sort. I follow you religiously and know you're doing it.

Most of her workouts and challenges have been in the top section, not her workout section. I am in a running challenge with her, that is only talked about in the comments section of our team and is not even on the logs

No, I don't believe I'm being negative or jealous, just concerned. She reports a weight loss of 16.3 lbs from 2/28-3/9 with only one "60 minute inner thigh toning exercise at desk". I don't see any other workouts reported under her "March Workout Progress". Please understand, I think her motivation, dedication and drive are admirable. It's just concerning to see someone lose 110 lbs since 2/1/06 and 50 of that in the last 10 weeks. I wonder what ill effects this may have on her body in the long run.

"debbie downers on this thread, and skeptic susans" what is this person in 7th grade?

I also think its awesome that she's lost so much weight BUT you have to admit her logs are really hard to read and take in what's going on so people are going to think she hasn't been working out. I for one only see a few workouts in the last 2 weeks. Maybe she does keep a list of it somewhere else but its not very easy to see it unless you read the huge amount of info. But seriously if she has been losing since 2/06 then she would have lost a larger amount of weight in the beginning and slowed down by now considering what she started at. But almost half of the weight she lost has been in the last 10 weeks, it does seem a little odd.

I've seen a previous PT member do the same thing with initial weight loss at over 300 lbs. 50 lbs. does seem like a lot but things will slow down as she continues to lose.

I love her logs, too, but if you don't read them regularly, you miss a lot, because when she changes her profile, most of what she is doing disappears from record. I really love to keep up with her logs. She is so honest about her bad spells as well as her victories and inspires me

Does anyone know if she's had weight loss surgery? She's lost an average of 5+ lbs per week since 1/1/07. That's amazing! What's her secret to that kind of rapid weight loss?

it looks like she started at a bit over 300lbs and is eating from what it looks about 1200 calories a day..it would not be unreasonable for her to drop that fast at those numbers

yes. She said that she met a group of people that she thought would be life long friends and that they were keeping h er very busy and she didnt have the time to log anymore. She also said that PT wasnt reliable and that she was always having trouble with it and it discouraged her.

what an odd reason to quit peertrainer, i'm pretty sure everyone here has a busy work and social life. also i wonder what kind of problems she had with peertrainer that she felt it wasn't reliable, has anyone had similar problems.

Who knows, people quit for all sorts of reasons. I blamed PT once because I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings by leaving the group. It was the easy way out and I took it.
