Eating anything

I have decided that if I want to eat it I must research it and figure out the portion and the calories..then if I MUST HAVE IT...then I eat it. If I don't know how many calories, I am not allowed to eat it. Sometimes I reason that if I eat this I can only have a meager dinner..and I decide that it's not worth it. So I think this strategy is working.
If you don't give yourself some rules, you will stop dieting again, until you gain another 20 lbs. and try again next year. Make some kind of rule..maybe one free meal a week or something. Good Luck.

a great rule is to eat less calories than you burn off in a day. if you eat a little extra at lunch or induldge in some cake, increase your caloric output to adjust the numbers. tried and true method. of course, you'll want to eat well nutritionally most of the time. but what if there's no cake in the after-life? i say, what are you waiting for? just be sensible and exercise a little more.

I think you're on to the only lifelong- maintainable "diet" that exists. Afterall, being a healthy weight doesn't mean that you never eat foods like cake. It just means that they are eaten in overall balance. I have read a few books on that topic, and am trying to incorporate it into my life.

A few books I've read: "French Women Don't Get Fat" by Mireille Guiliano and The Quest for Peace, Love and a 24" Waist by Deborah Low

I'll eat it if it's really good and worth it. But portion control it too.. The first bite is teh best.

I worry about diabetes in my 50s (Im 40 something) due to famly history and the quality of life with diabetes isn't good enough for me.
