whey powder
whey powder? what is it and how do you use it and for what. what flavors do you use?
Thu. Apr 5, 1:38pm
Whey powder is a protein supplement derived from a byproduct of cheese-making ("curds and whey"), but is still contained in such things as ricotta cheese. It's popular with people who don't get enough protein in their usual diet or are trying to bulk up, meaning build muscle. It is not a weight loss supplement.
Back when I used to do a high protein diet, I would mix up some of the vanilla flavored powder with skim milk for a quick shot of 15g protein for 85 calories. Most people use it in a smoothie, and you can also mix it in with oatmeal or cereal. I have since discovered that high protein (30%+) doesn't work for me and now I'm stuck with 3 leftover pounds of the stuff in a huge jar under the sink.

I go to the health food store and buy Whey Protein Isolate. It is unflavored
I made a mistake once and bought some whey powder from Walmart, because it was a little bit cheaper. Big mistake. It did not want to mix and dissolve, it had an ingredient list longer than 1 item, and that ingredient list included the artificial sweetener Sucralose, which causes problems for lots of people. This is in spite of the fact that the front of it says
100% PREMIUM WHEY POWDER
unfortunately, I did not read this before I bought it. I just bought.
A scoop of whey is good to add to smoothies, and also to your bowl of oatmeal. It is meant to be one of your protein servings, it is not a diet food.
Don't get the clumpy aggravating stuff at Walmart, though.
