Anyone have breast implants??

I'm going to be getting breast implants this coming year. Just curious about other peoples experience with them....any input would be good.

I had them for a year following a double mastectomy. When a bone tumor was detected in my sternum, I opted to have the implants removed along with the tumor. Perhaps because I had no breast tissue of my own, I found them painful and annoying.

I had them for 6 years and had them taken out a year ago this Tuesday. I like them while I had them and they still looked good. I never had an issues with them except that I did lose a considerable amount of feeling in one side.
I had overs and after 2 pregnancies they looked pretty bad. My breasts really overreaced to pregnancy and went from a C to a DD while pregnant and to an F when my milk came in. I'm only 5'5" and in pretty good shape so you can imagine how funny I looked!

Overall my experience very good, but I just didn't want to deal with the possibility of other surgeries in the future, let alone be able to afford it. Also, had I known how my body would react I would've waited until after I had kids.

Not trying to hijack your thread but on a similar topic-has anyone here had a breast lift done?

I'm petrified of surgery, but my breasts are incredibly saggy after losing about 80 lbs. i went from a 38 DD to a 34 B/C. All of my breast tissue has lost it's elasticity and while I don't care about what size me breasts are, I'm really disheartened by how unappealing they look/feel now. I'm not looking for rock hard, porn star-style breasts, but a little lift/firming would be nice!!!

I had a breast lift done last July for the same reason. The only difference is that mine weren't all that big to begin with, but the sagging was just ridiculous. It is honestly one of the best choices I've ever made - I am SO happy with the results. If you check out my blog and go back into the July/August archives, I posted a lot pre- and post-surgery.

Hi there :)
I had a BA done 3 years ago this May. I have never had any problems with mine and love them. I had a son and my boobs went flat (literally). I had the skin for a C but could only fill a B orA. So I had implants. Here are my surgery stats:
Placed under the muscle
Round/Smooth implants
went from A/B to D/DD
I'm 5'8" and weigh roughly 155. They fit my body perfectly and I would never go back.
I had the incision under the crease of my breasts. I asked my surgeon to make them "natural/tear drop" shape. I wanted a little droop in them so I didn't look like I had flying saucers on my chest lol. If you have any questions at all just ask!!
I was out of work for 2 weeks, had a little pain, but was prepared for it. I did TONS of research beforehand so I had no suprises. I can give you a list of items to have on hand to make sure your recovery is very smooth.

3 years later and my fiance loves them. You can feel the implant in some spots if you touch it just right, but it doesn't bother me. I have no problem with working out, running, lifting weights, etc. I can't lay on my stomach on hard floors, but I think thats true for big boobs period, fake or not. Overall, they aren't "perfect", but I love them.

The best piece of advice I can give is do not go into surgery expecting "perfect", only expect "better" and you will be happy.

Oh..and do all the exercises/squeezing that your doc tells you to do!! It WILL make a difference! :)

The problem with going into the surgery thinking you will emerge with "perfect Jessica Simpson" breasts is that YOUR breasts will never look like anyone else's. Each person reacts differently to breast implants, so going in with the mindset of "improvement", not "perfection" is very important. Otherwise you will inevitably be unhappy and will end up seeking out multiple surgeries trying to obtain "perfect" breasts.

OP, I had a BA in January of last year. I am going to be 38 this week. I also did a TON of searching all over the internet after an acquaintance of mine popped into my work literally a week after she had hers done. I would have never known! They looked soo natural! So, like 3 of my co workers and I went to the ladies room and when she showed us we were all totally impressed. Grant you, she's one of those quick healing people. She went from an A to a C.
Even after I checked out a ton of surgeons I liked the work of her doctor's the best and decided to go to him. (Dr. Stuart Linder in Beverly Hills) He specializes in BA's. I liked the fact that even though he's qualified he ONLY works on women, only does BA and reconstructive BA's and lipo. I too didn't want to look like a porn star just proportioned. I have always had broad shoulders and rib cage and everyone thought I was naturally a C (pill and push up bras). Until I had to go on the pill I was naturally only a B. So, I went from a C to a D/DD.
I chose not to do the "high profile" implants (Pamela Anderson) and went for the natural round. NOT TEARDROP. My surgeon has had to replace A LOT of that type because they apparently shift and turn in the breast. He refuses to use them for that reason. I had gone in there thinking I wanted the teardrop...by the way, my friend got the teardrop a few years before me and her's look saggy after they dropped. She was unhappy with them.

Everyone is different...I didn't have to massage mine and they dropped naturally. The funny thing is, to this day I see people that I haven't in a while...including an ex of 10 years...and all they have to say is that I look like I lost weight!! LOL! I guess because my waist looks smaller! The funny thing is, I'm actually here for gaining 25 pounds over the last 4 years!

Sorry this was soo long winded but I have to confess I was literally the woman that swore I'd NEVER get implants...and now I am really pleased that they balance me out and everyone just thinks I'm naturally busty! I figured why not?! I deserve to feel great in my body...and why not do it while I am still cute! LOL!!! ( The nurse actually told me that the mass majority of women that they see are actually in their 30's and NOT in thier 20's like I thought) If you have any other questions let me know!

I am a massage therapist and would highly recommend that you work on the true reason you are choosing to get implants. I know so many people who have them only to have to go get that painful operation done again. When you hug them it feels like you have hugged a hard wall. I also see what it looks like when you get in to your 60's, they sag just like the real ones. Be proud of what you have been given!! You are beautiful the way you are ....

For the lady interested in the breast lift...My friend had 3 kids and was naturally a DD. I never thought they looked bad until she had me look at them in the bathroom...they were almost down to her belly button! She decided to get a breast lift and tummy tuck. WOW! She said it was the BEST thing she ever did! Totally worth the little anchor scar under the breast. I saw her after her surgery and she had her 19 year old breasts again! From what she says...I totally recommend it for anyone that had children or have lost a lot of weight! By the way, I had a co worker that lost like 80 pounds and had a breast lift as well...she too said it was worth every penny!

Oh, I'm the long winded gal...
I guess I should share like the lady above:
I also did under the muscle... half and half.
Smooth round implant.
I went from a C to D/DD
My implants went in the bottom of my areola. I still have complete and total sensation in both nipples.
When they were healing I could barely see any scar. (I had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic ointment I used so my scar is more visible now) I have seen several of his clients and you can barely see any scar at all!
I have always been a curvy woman and at 5'2" I've never lost my 36" hips even when I was 25 lbs lighter!
I suppose it's a good thing that everyone never thinks I weigh as much as I do so my implants look like they are mine.
I think as long as we are happy in our own skin...and I confess I am on that journey...we shouldn't judge others if they want to enhance their natural beauty with implants. And I do agree with another comment above, realize what your true reasons are for wanting implants. I am just getting use to my new found "breast powers" and it's something to get use to. You do get a little more attention with them...and I'm a wallflower quiet type...so, it's all new to me! I sometimes don't like the added attention...I really got them for me and as silly as it sounds, I didn't think about the added attention they could bring. Like I said before, I actually AM what everyone thought I WAS because of the body type I have. So, feeling in "proportion" for the first time in my life is a beautiful thing TO ME.

I actually never felt any implants before I got mine...I highly recommend you do if you have the chance. I was "too embarrassed" and didn't realize that like the woman said above, you can feel them in certain spots on the bottom of the breast.. It freaked me out a bit at first. I had no idea, even though it makes sense that you might feel them where the muscle doesn't cover completely.

It's like this, we have all seen the women with the implants that are like round orbs that look like they are going to pop off their chests because the skin looks sooo tight?! They are generally the ladies that are the tiny size zero's, very skinny with little body fat that get implants that are tooo big for their bodies.
That's who I am talking about. The one's that make Pamela Anderson look small. Remember to think about what is appropriate for your body frame vs just wanting big. My surgeon was very clear with what was proportion and what was too big. The first thing that came out of my mouth was, " I don't want people to look at me and say...look at her boob job. I want them to look as natural as implants can be yet full and sexy." My surgeon won't do freakishly big implants...generally, a reputable professional won't do that kind of work.
So, keep that in mind when you're looking for a doctor...don't let the surgeon push on you bigger is better...I have seen that with other doctors...makes me uncomfortable.
Like I said earlier, My friend went from an A to a full C and she's slim. They were beautiful and I would NEVER have known they were done!
I went from a C to a D/DD and even my ex of 10 years that I recently ran into after like 2 years...totally thought I just gained weight in my boobs! LOL!
He of all people would have called me out on my BA if he thought I had one!
Mine are soft and supple and I didn't have to massage them. My surgeon said everyones skin is different as well so not everyone has to massage and smush them...lol mine dropped perfectly on their own!
My doctor is one of the top at this moment for BA's so, I am the you get what you pay for...don't skimp on price for good work.(Only because there are sooooo many out there is all I mean)

In response to if they will be hard or not...I wanted to add that while i DID go from a A/B to D/DD, I had the SKIN for a C-D cup before the surgery due to having a child. My breasts were pretty saggy and loose, so I had the room for the implants. If you are small and have perky small boobs, a large implant will more than likely stick out on your chest and feel a little harder than if you had the extra room there. Make sense? :) Best advice...research research research....look at picturesof BA's performed by every doctor you interview, if you know anyone with a BA ask to feel them (they usually won't mind). Just know what you're getting in to and like stated above....don't skimp on price....you absolutely Get What You Pay For!!

I had mine done on Feb 14th 2007- Great Valentine's gift. I went from an A toa DD. I love them and am VERY happy with the decision. I was back to my exercise routine with no problem after only 3 months from the date of surgery. They actually feel like they have always been a part of my body.

You should look on different sites and see the A sizes that went to a D in the photos. Bottom line, go to a TOP SURGEON. Remember, you are stretching a lot of skin if you jump to such a large size and if you don't have extra skin there in the first place( if you are thin and don't have a lot of body fat especially around the upper chest area by your arm pits) Your implants may not look as natural. Plus, make sure you DON'T do "high profile" implants if you want to look more natural and go under the muscle. (don't do teardrops they might sag or turn in the breast)
Ask the surgeon too, I know that a reputable one (like mine) will tell you if you are really petite that they might not be proportional therefore not the best choice to go to a D from an A...he'll let you know if that size will look natural or not. (I'm the one that went from a C to a D/DD.) A few people that I knew that were naturally thin and went from an A to a D LOVED them! I can say that they looked good...but DID look fake because they were naturally petite women...now with these big breasts!

I had mine done in Oct 06. I was hiking in the Big Bend 19 days post op. Recovery time was about one week of pain and two weeks of regaining stamina. I had very small A's and went to an under muscle size C implant. It was the best investment and I am so glad that I did it. Now my shirts normal. The breasts are not hard and I noticed sensitivity is coming back 6mo post op.

Before I had mine done on Feb 14th, I had done a lot of research trying to find the best surgeon for me in our area. Before I go into details, I did this for me. I have no underlying issues with self confidence, in fact that is the one area I have never had any problems. I am 36 years old I had lost 35 lbs and had kept it off for 5 years and was happy with everything about myself, I simply wanted to be larger.

I actually went to a clinic where there are only female plastic surgeons - I figured having a female plastic surgeon would give me the comfort level that she knew how everything felt pre-op (ie monthly swelling etc). I didn't want a surgeon who would hold my hand and tell me everything would be just fine. In my first meeting she sat me down and told me EVERYTHING that could go wrong - all the complications, and all of the worst case scenarios - even before I could ask my first question. At the end of the first visit she said "now that I have scared you - what else can I tell you". It was exactly what I wanted in a surgeon - that is why it is SOOOOOO important to talk to several different surgeons to find one not only who you have confidence in, but one who will be there on the other side to manage through any possible problems.
My surgeon was $1500 more than any of the others that I spoke to, but he was worth every penny, lets be realistic this is one thing you do now want to cheap out on, or look for the "better" deal - its your body!!! You have to live in it for the rest of your natural life.
I decided on mentor 470 cc high profile under the muscle, under the breast incision (do your research to make sure you have all the benfits and side effects of each incision site).
The surgery took about 45 mins, and I woke up with a surgical bra strapping everything down (I went from an A to a DD) with little pain. My boyfriend drove me home and then about 2 hours later it sarted - IT HURT. Remember - an A with good muscle tone in my chest to a DD - the muscles were trying to contract into their original position. I had to get my boyfriend to even help me to the washroom because everytime I stood up gravity would pull on them and the pain was mind blowing (make sure you have someone with you who you can throw modesty out the window with - this is no time to be fighting for decorum). I had been given vicadin and valium and antinausea pills to help get me through the next couple of days - also if you have sensative stomach like I do, see if you can have your surgeon prescribe an anti vomiting pill before surgery (I throw up from general anesthetic).
My breasts were up to my chin for the first two weeks from swelling. The pain subsided after 3 days to what could be managed with tylenol. They continued to settle for the next six weeks, as they dropped (one thing, if your original breasts did not have natural cleavage, then your implants will not create it - push up bra will do it). I went on holiday 9 weeks after the surgery to the Carribean, and they looked amazing, and very natural. As far as the skin stretching -yes it does happen but mildly. I am prone to stretch marks and was worried about what could happen, but with a ton a cocoa butter I only ended up with one tiny one.
I am so happy with my decision - even through the worst pain, I would do it over again.
As many people have recommended - Look for an excellent surgeon, ask all the questions about what "could happen" (you need to make an informed decision, and not everyone has the perfect surgery or outcome) Do your research on incison sites and implant manufacturers, and seriously think about size, remember you need to feel comfortable in them - consider the weight of them and how it impacts your back, you don't want back aches because they are too large. And when it comes time to make a decison make sure you are 95% sure (I even had the last 5% hanging around right up until they put me under). And wear them with confidence !!!!!!!!!!!!
I personally could not be more pleased I am told they look natural (and I have a friend or two who would hesitate to tell me otherwise).

I have to say one of the benefits of doing it in winter is you can hide under sweaters as you go through the immediate post surgey, and as they settle down which will take about 6 weeks. It is not so obvious how high they reallly are. Also if you want an underarm incision the scar will be more visible through the summer months as it heals.

I had implants and a lift done at the same time. I had 2 kids and nursed both, so I went from a full C down to an A. I still had all the extra skin, it was just empty! When I went to my doctor, he said that if he did just implants I would look unnaturally large. He did a donut cut, which is to cut completely around the areola, then cut the skin around it to remove a donut shape, then sew the areola back into place. I've lost a little sensation, but not much. I should say that I've had mine done almost 7 years now. Also, it looks so natural that my immediate family, other than my dh, still does not know. I was on pain meds for a couple of days and after that was fine. I was a SAHM, so going back to work was not a problem. If you are seriously considering it, I would say to wait until you've had your kids to get it done. A lift will not last forever and if you plan on nursing, they will sag a little faster. I have since had 2 more kids, nursed them both without complications, but they are slowly heading south again. Also, your doctor will probably tell you to bring in a photo of the boobs you want (out of Playboy or some other magazine), and then let you know if they will look good on you. Good Luck!!

Breast Implants

I just got mine 4 days ago. I can take you on this ride with me if you like. I am a student, and have lived as an atheletic woman, with no chest. I wore a 34A, Barely an A-I had pockets in my push up bras, and have got implants to be a full C. I am 5'8" 135. I got 371 Memory gel implants. Inframammary incicion, under muscles. The first days were terrible. I am much better now. As I said I would be happy to communicate with you about mine experiences and the six surgeons I interviewed before I made my decision. Write me.

I had a problem with gaining and loosing weight and my boobs were so completely different that you could see it through my clothes and my bra....so I opted for the surgery and I am so happy! They are natural and soft, I got a full C under the muscle...
