Shouldn't they delete these groups??
If a group hasn't been active since January, shouldn't it be deleted?? I hate searching for groups and coming up on something only to realize its been inactive for 5 months.

That would make sense. But as these pages are in ASP, usually anything practical does not apply.

What does "ASP" mean?

I don't know about deleting a group that has members. If they just want to share logs and don't use comments, that's ok with me. If people don't log, they'll get dropped from the public groups eventually, and if everybody leaves or gets dropped, the group soon goes away.
I can relate, though, to sometimes feeling like you have to look for things by brute force here. I'm not sure just what to suggest, but some sort of more refined searching would be helpful at times. Now that the site is a couple of years old, re-finding some interesting thing in your own or someone else's log can be awfully tedious, for example.

the more demands/requests we make to the people who run this site, the more likely it will not remain free.

the pages are not in asp - that is antiquated. If you're going to try to show off your technology prowess at least get it right.

How come every thread has some snarky comment in it these days?
Seriously, can't we all just be a little bit polite. I'm getting tired of reading all these attacks on other people. So what if someone says something you don't agree with. Didn't anyone ever learn, "if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all"? It's one thing to disagree, but it is completely possible to disagree without being mean spirited about it.

just by remarking that you find a comment "snarky", you're inviting more of the same. trust me, it happens all the time. i started a thread once titled, "if you don't have something nice to say..." and there were umpteen responses that thrashed the whole idea of even mentioning that we all should show some respect for each other. all of the threads that politely request anything remotely associated with being supportive instead of rude just stir up the trouble-makers.

there does seem to be more rudeness on these threads lately ... and I wonder if it comes from a newish member who gets some kind of pleasure from putting people down

OP here....
This isn't going out against anyone at all, I swear, I just think its funny that 10 posts down and we aren't even talking about the original subject.
Friday, April 20, 2007, 11:47 PM
there's only one comment that is relevant to the OP's topic. funny!

I also think that logs of people who have not posted in a long time should be deleted. They just clutter up the public logs and make it more difficult to find the interesting ones. Maybe PT could save them in a 'dormant log' area for a while before deleting them.
