kiss me kate continues to amaze me with her efforts and results! good for her and great for the world to learn that regular women, without a personal trainer and chef 24/7 CAN and DO lose weight healthfully and keep it off! thanks for even more inspiration, kate!

3:13- Kate would you agree that you are probably a lot hotter than the 3:13 poster? probably.

she had surgery to change the appearance of her shape. that's still surgery. and the front of the magazine says "no surgery or gimmicks". it's a lie.

i don't think kate is the type to comment publicly on how much hotter than another PT member she may be based on a comment. i think she has more class than that. i wish more people had more class, too.

"how they lost 100 pounds" "no surgery, no gimmicks!" totally true. if it stated "how they got the shape they have now" it would be different. try not to ruin the party!

Kate, I don't know you but my hope is that you're not sensitive and that you don't let this envious poster attempt to steal your thunder. I saw your picture on your log and you look happy. maybe that poster who is attempting to knock you down will look inside herself or himself and attempt to figure out why your success is bothersome. In any event, congratulations on the cover of people!

A role model

I am a friend of Kate's, and she continues to inspire me. Her dedication to her health and helping others follow in her footsteps with her blog and participation on PT should be commended. I'm so happy for you Kate that you've been recognized so publicly for your efforts. I'd also like to add, it takes guts to be on the cover of a well known magazine in a bikini, no matter what you weigh. The thinnest of us still have insecurities about how we look in a bikini. I think it's awesome that these 6 ladies bared themselves in a bathingsuit not just for "People" but for all people who could use some inspiration to reach their goals.

Way to go Kate!

I just picked up the new copy of People!

Kate looks amazing, very confident and real. Quite a nice contrast to Paris Hilton, who is right next to her on the cover.

Boy, do I feel the love!

Thank you guys all so much for your support and good wishes. I still can't believe this all happened! I definitely owe it all to Peertrainer - I may not have lost every pound here, but I lost the hardest ones, the last 30, and have continued to do the toughest part here, which is to keep it off.

As for the surgery, I totally understand what some people are saying. I felt the exact same thing when I saw the cover; it made me a little uneasy. I thought, "But wait, I did have surgery." However, it's clear that the point was that all six of us LOST the weight without surgery. That's what they're trying to get across - that you can lose 100 pounds without resorting to drastic methods. I actually was glad they asked me about the surgery, because I did want to address the issue that a majority of people who lose that much weight do have some problems with sagging skin, and often want plastic surgery to correct it. Excess skin cannot be helped with diet or exercise!

Anyway, the other five women were amazing and beautiful and SO sweet, and I'm honored to have been featured with them, and to represent all of you here who belong to Peertrainer. I'll be back in New York to do Good Morning America on Monday. Oh, and I found the link to the behind-the-scenes video of the photo shoot; I'll post it below.

XOXO
Kate

Congratulations Kate! It's nice seeing the media portraying women who lost weight the healthy way instead of from a fad diet. And I agree, excess/sagging skin is not something you can do anything about with diet or exercise-I've lost more than 70lbs and I'm considering getting a breast lift myself!

Wow!

I did not know Kate when she was at 250 but I have seen her go through her last 40 pounds. I have seen her laugh and cry about her weight issue. She struggles with it, as do most of the people on PeerTrainer.

My hat is off to all of you who are making the attempt to lose your weight. From seeing what Kate goes through each day, I kind of get it. Though I don't completely understand the issue most people face with food and weight, I live with someone who does. It's hard for you to get to where Kate is right now, and when you do, you should and will feel so proud of yourself.

I hope to see everyone on PeerTrainer featured in a major magazine some day soon.
One thing I want all of you to read is this issue. These six ladies lost their weight by doing the right things!

Each person who reads this has the ability to do the same as these six women, each and every person here does. You all have made the first steps to lose your weight. Keep up the good work.

I look forward to reading everyone’s posts in the community on their body fat loss and muscle gains! I look forward to reading about your health getting better and posting every now and then. Again, stay focused on your own picture and help your peers along the way!

Just remember this, if losing weight were easy, anyone could do it without help.

Surgery after weight loss

Yes, unfortunately two of the ladies featured in this article will most likely need surgery to correct the sagging skin that is left over from their weight loss.

The slower you lose the weight, the less sagging skin you have. The skin contracts slowly. People who lose a lot of weight quickly, like those who have gastric bypass surgery or go on crash diets like "The Biggest Loser," have the most problems with excess skin.

Not true 12:53, it really depends on how stretched your skin was when you were heavier. Of course someone who had gastric bypass and loses 100 pounds in 6 months is going to have a lot of loose skin, but even someone who loses 100 pounds over the course of, say 1.5 years might have loose skin depending on where they carried their weight. I know myself at my highest I was 226, now I'm down to 170 with another 35 pounds to go, I've lost the weight over the past 2 years and I can already tell that even with all my exercise I will have some hanging skin.

Kate inspires me!

Today I was in a 7-11... hadn't been able to get online at all in the past 48 hours due to work... (I was in the car 8 hours today.) When I rounded the magazine rack, I immediately recognized Kate's photo!!! Of course, I picked it up immediately and bought the magazine home with me....

Although I've never met Kate, I did talk to her once on the phone last year when she was coming to Michigan for something...I would still like to meet her if she comes back again. What an inspiration!

I've been slacking a lot with my workouts lately, but today, after seeing her photo in People, I made a point of getting on my treadmill for 45 minutes.... I realize that I have not made my health and well-being a priority in my life, and I've got to stop procrastinating and start "walking the walk" vs. "talking the talk"...

Kate, Thanks for inspiring many of us in our journey. I'm lucky that I don't need to lose 100 lbs, but I still need to lose a good number of pounds--I hope that by the end of the summer, I will look 1/2 as good in a bathing suit!!!

You go, girl!!! Keep up the life changes. You are definitely a positive role model for many of us!!!

Thanks Kate

That's amazing, 100lbs. That shows such amazing dedication. I am truly inspired. As someone who has gone thru drastic weight fluctuations due to some eating issues, it's great to see someone doing it the healthy way & not Nicole Richie style. Thank you for helping me see that it's possible. =)
