have you changed just to please others?

the thread about shaving one's legs got me thinking about this issue. how many of you reading this have changed your behaviour or style just so you would fit in with the majority? have any of you stopped or started a personal habit in order to prevent being teased by others? personally, i stick to my own beliefs about what makes me comfortable. sometimes i do have to field remarks from others who would prefer that i complied with their way of doing things, but i cause no harm nor do i hinder any one else. thanks for your responses!

I wouldnt say that I have changed based on anyone but I have been influenced by those I love and trust. If I am being a huge bitch and my friend points it out I know she had my best interest at heart and maybe I should try to relax a little

i have many friends who repeatedly try to get me to wear make-up and dress more like a "woman". but i am happy with the way i look and if i ever get stranded somewhere without my toiletries and accessories bags, i will still look like me!

i started drinking a lot of alcohol while in high school so that i would "fit in" with the "popular" crowd. i developed many stomach problems including an ulcer. i had problems w/ alcohol for many years due to my need to "fit in". in retrospect, the people i thought were popular were only popular to each other. the academically driven kids and the jocks were actually much more popular within their peer groups and boy, how i wish i could go back!! now i live for myself and those who i love, not for anyone i want to like me.

Fickle..

To be honest with you, I'm not my own motivation at times, I mean i can be headstrong and accomplish my set goals, but sometimes i stop to think and I realize it's not entirely for me, in some sense i know what i have to do to feel compfortable in my own skin, and I've lived with the cliche of "being loved for who you are, no matter how you are" but i feel that i can't make love with that full energy or wear what i want, dance how i want, without thinking that people look, i can't stand being stated at, so with that being said, i feel as if i'm doing this to please the watching eye.
but i'm also involved in this for me, i wanna look at myself and see beauty. in every shape and FORM.
