Resisting tempatation at special events

I am usually totally fine all week, when I am preparing my own meals and in control. Then, if I go to a party or wedding on the weekend, I want to try EVERYTHING - just a taste of this and a bite of that. I try to tell myself I'm just nibbling a few things, but I know it adds up. Yet I can't help myself - I want to whine, everyone else is piggying out, why can't I?!

Any advice???

These are things that have worked for me...they aren't pretty:

1) have an apple before you go.
2) find someone who is fatter than you are at the event and watch how much they eat.
3) think about the possibly unclean sanitary conditions of the kitchen, food prep people, servers, etc. Just gross yourself out.
4) think about all the nastyness in processed foods and the calories in anything fried, and how gross it will make your body feel. Stick only to the veggies.

Haha. I like these - maybe they're a little gross, but I bet they work. I'll give it a try next time - thanks!
