Need some encouragement

So, without sounding too desparate, I need some friends. I'd love to meet some people in my area, and I've scoped out a few running clubs, etc. Looks great. I'm painfully introverted sometimes though and almost always talk myself out of going to the meet-ups. Can anyone give me a word of encouragement?

You should go and try it out. 99.99% of the time what we imagine to be the worst possible thing that could happen never actually comes close to happening. Ask yourself, do I really want to do this...if it's yes then don't think twice...just get up and go do it. You'll be happier you did it in the end. The things I am most proud of doing took the most guts to get up and do it, but I was so happy I did in the end.
