water intake...tea?

So as the days get colder I find it hard to drink my recommended 8 glasses a day, since usually I'm on the go and pick up a few bottles through the day, but its just too cold to drink big bottles of refrigerated water!
I think drinking tea would do the trick right? cause its just basically water too. What are some tasty teas or teas with good added health benefits? I know green tea is great, but any others?

tea is great for you! green teas are the best, though there are a lot of herbal teas that have benefits. check a local natural foods store for some ideas. suggestions.... i LOVE mighty leaf teas, their tropical green and their rooibus are really good. rooibus in general is a good tea to drink, it's tasty and has all kinds of good-for-you stuff. avoid the numi brand though, their rooibus is really bitter, and they should have a bit of a hint of vanilla/creaminess, even though the tea is red and clear. their other teas are ok though, depending on the tastes you like. i've also recently started with honeybush tea, it's so tasty!

i would also suggest genmaicha, japanese green tea with brown rice, it's supposed to have great health benefits. plus the rice makes the tea a bit sweeter than plain green tea.

Oh yeah, and the line of Traditional Medicinals teas are great! They have teas for all kinds of mild problems, like upset stomach, sore throat (love that one), pms, etc. just make sure you follow the directions, because they suggest you brew their teas longer than most.

On the water point too... Drink room temperature water! You'll be able to drink more of it, and your body doesn't have to work to cool it down. But tea is great.

I second the Mighty Tea rooibos - it's my favorite tea ever!

Celestial Seasonings has lots of great flavors, and they don't need sweetener - some of my favorites are Raspberry Zinger, Bengal Spice (tastes like chai), Orange Tangarine Zinger, one with apple (I can't remember the whole name, but it tastes like apple cider).

My other favorite brand is The Republic of Tea - their wildberry green tea is awesome, as is blackberry sage. I've liked all the flavors I've tried from them.

I personally haven't found a brand of pre-bottled tea that I am willing to drink. They are all way too sweet for me (which makes them high calorie, too), and none taste like tea. So I keep several boxes of tea at work in my desk - we have a water cooler, and the hot water out of its tap is too hot to drink and makes tea nicely. If that doesn't work for you, you could try making a really strong brew in the morning, and then diluting it with water throughout the day. In a thermos travel cup, it would stay hot all day - maybe even enough to warm chilled water to room temperature.

I third the rooibos. Any red tea is great and it's really gotten me through my colds this winter. I love Celestial Seasonings' Madagascar Vanilla Red.

I'm a big fan of Celestial Season's offerings too....

but also in general I go for Chamomile (since it helps with headaches as well), ginger tea, Oolong, green tea (but the stuff that comes in teabags often is horrid... i lived in china for over 4 years so I'm a tea snob in that sense).

my key on tea is choosing things that are blended well and taste great so you don't have to add anything to them. There are many fruity teas that work great.

I also like Stash - licorice spice is a big fave of mine (but it's not for everyone). Their Mango Passion is also lovely.

My all-time FAVORITE is tazo Passion - it's a very zippy, fruity blend that is awesome hot or iced.

Green teas and black teas are both packed with nutritional good news. I like to drink a cup late morning and it helps me not be so ravenous at lunch. I also have the mindset where if I don't have something 'hot' in my stomach I don't feel satisfied - well drinking tea before and with a meal takes care of that pyschological component for me.

I'll give a second to the Republic of Tea- I enjoy Daily Green- The People's Green Tea and Mango Ceylon. I'm also a fan of Twinings, althought they're not herbal they have fantastic flavor- I enjoy British Breakfast the most :)

Celestial Seasonings fan here!

Try:
Red Zinger - Tart tea - made from hibiscus and full of Vitamin C
Sleepytime - a soothing tea
"Nutcracker Sweet" and "Sugar Plum Fairy" (I think that's what it's called) are available around the holidays and are fantastic...
