Menstrual fluctuations during weight loss

Hi everyone,

About 8 weeks ago, I made a huge change in my life. I was 270 pounds and total sedentary. I now eat about 1300 calories a day and exercise regularly. Soon after starting this new part of my life, my period came and NEVER STOPPED! I've heard of women losing their periods when they start an exercise program, but I had never heard of them having an increased flow. Also, I'm on the pill and my period isn't due for another couple of weeks.

Has anyone else experienced this? What happened? I have an appointment with my doctor, who is going to do a sonogram.

i've had the opposite problem -- haven't had my period since last fall i think. a couple checkups with doctors haven't turned up any problems... pretty common with female athletes, i did lose some weight earlier (have since gained some back)... i should probably go and check in again if it doesn't come back they said, but for now everything looks ok.

To the OP you might have fibroids or polyps. The gynecologist is definitely the route to go.
