We make our own, look for recipes on the web, it is very easy and so yummy then you control how much sugar if any you put in, etc.

I love the natural ones. I get the generic brand or buy it in a bigger tub at the Amish stores. Now that I'm used to it, I can't stand the other stuff!

We put our natural peanut butter in the refrigerator so the oils don't separate and it's not all runny. It tastes the same, but the texture is much more tolerable!

Several of my local stores have machines that will grind up peanuts like you would coffee and the peanut butter comes out of the nozzle to be put in the jar by your own hand (try an organic co-op?). Usually they have a salted and non salted option and one store even has a honey roasted one. I don't eat any other kind now, as the others taste way too sugary and not as nutty.
Good luck!

I'm a total peanut butter junkie. However, OP, the reason why you love peanut butter so much is because of the sugar in it.

I know, I know, it was hard for me to hear too.

But, after the peanut butter scare I had to find a different brand and starting trying Smuckers all-natural (I prefer chunky, but to each his or her own). After about a week, I grew to love it quite a bit.

Keep trying the natrual kinds and stay away from the other stuff. It's no good for you. I have to say, that peanut butter salmonella or whatever it was scare was really good for me. It helped me break the addiction to sugar-laced peanut butter.

besides the sugar, the hydrogenated oils are REALLY bad. pretty much anything in a box has them- read those labels!

I buy the teddy all natural, no salt added PB and i love it. Sure getting used to no salt and no sugar in my PB was weird at first, but i got over it in a few days. Now I love the stuff and don't miss the sugary kind at all.

i make my own, too, same as the 4:06 poster. we have such machines in the bulk food stores here in Toronto, and the noozle turns into 'smooth' or 'chunky'. the box on top is filled with fresh, raw, unsalted peanuts, and then they just go through this grinding machine, and it's all yours. no added sugars, nothing. perfectly tasty, and that pride of making it yourself...!

I'm not sure how natural it is, but I love Skippy Reduced Fat creamy peanut butter. It tastes the same as the regular peanut butter, but half the calories.

How healthy is the organic kind with no sugar or salt? I have switched to that kind to stay away from the bad oils to help my thyroid work better. Am I doing the right thing by eating natural peanut butter?

Once your palate gets used to the taste of all natural foods, you'll hate the taste of the other stuff. Spoken from experience and science.

It's funny b/c I grew up on "natural" peanut butter...and that's all I know. Brands like Skippy taste funny to me...like it's desert or something...well a bad bad desert with hydrogenated oil lol.

I LOVE PB also. Have you tried the Laura Scudders all natural? I know it's a sacrifice to change from the tastier ones but I am very happy with the Laura Scudders brand.

I like the TJ's brand. Their Almond Butter is also very good.
