the only one who can change you is you. start walking every day. you don't have to go very fast or very far in the beginning; just start. the exercise will help your self-esteem (see other thread). stop eating prossess/fried/sugar-laden food and opt for whole foods. it might be a shock at first but you'll get used to it. make gratitude lists. OK, so you're fat? what do you have that someone else lacks? education, a home, a boyfriend who cares? be grateful for the things you do have. go to therapy; if you have no insurance, seek out a free clinic or try going to AA meetings (even if you don't have a drinking problem the program might help with your depression). good luck, if i can do it, you can do it.

Before we start a pity thread for the OP or giving advice, how much do you weigh and how tall are you?

I say this because I have a co-worker who is 5'0" - 5'3" and weighs no more than 100-105 pounds, maybe even less. To give you an idea, her body could pass for a pre-teen body. She is very thin. She believes she is fat and it does not help that her husband tells her that also. I wouldn't give her the same advice as the preivous poster because this is definetly something that is all in her head.

So let us know your stats! Lets not assume that everyone on PT is truly overweight.

Stop eating so much. It is very apparent from your opening that you are under the age of 20, which means that you are dealing with obesity before you even hit your 20's.
Go on a diet, start exercising, stop eating fast food ...... and stop blaming / punishing others for your issue.

i'm 30 and i started exactly where you are 4 months ago, same height same weight. i've since lost 33 pounds and am well on my way to having my old body back. i've got confidence, i've got moxie, and i've got a great attitude towards life now. i'm off my depression meds, off my IBS meds and off my reflux/ulcer meds. i hit rock bottom and is sounds like that's where you are right now.

i decided to go back to the gym and count calories - energy in vs. energy out. it's been working great. i commited myself to working out as hard as i could with cardio 6 days a week for an hour and weights 3 of those days as well. i started off walking as fast as i could (3.2 mph) on the treadmill and that was intense for me, but i kept at it- 4 months later i'm training for a marathon... you can do it. you just have to reslove to make the necessary changes other than siting around whining and wallowing in self pity. now get off the sofa and do something!

Ther are times for supportive consideration of one's situation, but not when said individual complains about a problem which is completly 100% within her control.
If she is so unhappy do something about it, instead of b****ing about it to her boyfriend, and others on a public site.

I hate to say it but there are some pretty ruthless people on here. This girl is on here asking for help not to be bashed. She obviously knows she has a problem and is looking for some answers!! Quit putting her down and give her some advice!! That's all she's looking for, as we all are!!!

No she is not asking for help, she is whinning about something that she has control over. Maybe I should start a thread ...... "I'm too short" wah wah wah, maybe I will get sympathy because it is out of my control.

empower yourself

Listen, unfortunately many people feel that way about themselves, regardless of how they look. I have noticed that some of the most attractive people aren't that physically attractive, and are very confident and think highly of themselves anyway. So I suggest, following a healthy, realistic diet, and appreciate who you are now. Things will get better sooner than you think. I used to get bummed out a lot about my life and have decided to just create what I want and take action. I read this great book called "Ask and It Is Given" by Abraham Hicks, -I think. Really amazing at changing my perseption on things and achieving what I want. One thing I have found... whatever you think and feel about yourself, is others pick up on. So start feeling beautiful, sexy and worth it! You are worth investing in and deserve the best, such as taking care of yourself! Follow a healthy and fun diet, go dancing, surf, exercise, get your nails done, etc. I think you get the drift. Good luck Sweetie!

OBVIOUSLY 6:33 you are on here for a reason too. Not because you weigh your ideal weight. Everyone needs to start somewhere and with the comments given to this girl it's no wonder that soooo many people get discouraged!! No support!!!

OBVIOUSLY this girl is not here for support, she is here to bitch and rant. She loves ranting so much, she even says she does it 24/7. This is just another medium she has found to rant through. Stop bitching and eating, and start running or something!

Ok, Are you fat enough to do something about it?????? Sounds like you are. When you get sick and tired of being sick and tired then and only then you need to stop in your tracks and start SEEING yourself as a thinner person! Start telling yourself you are a THINNER person. START ACTING like a thinner person!! If it is all new to you then pretend for awhile that you are an actor or actress and you are just playing the part of a Thinner person untill you start to make some changes and see some results and it is going to amaze you! You have taken the 1st step by making that statement!!! You are in the drivers seat. Never ever tell yourself that again and start thinking and acting like a thinner person. If you keep doing what your doing you'll keep getting what your getting!!!!

2:17 Spoken like someone who has never had true depression. It can be paralizing.
OP I hope you are still reading this thread. Please see your Dr right away. I went asking for diet pills ( a miracle really ) She said she would discuss diet pills if I took an antidepressant for a month first. She was right. When I treated the depression, which I didn't even realize I was, I got to the place where I can now face the job of improving my health without diet pills which can have their own whole list of problems. If you don't have a compasionate care giver for a Dr, LOOK FOR A DIFFERENT CAREGIVER! They are hard to find now days. I use a nurse practitioner. They seem to take a little more time and listen and get to know YOU not just your pocketbook. GOOD LUCK

stop complaining and take ownership too your food abuse. everybody can give you a pity party but not here.. start day one over by walking 5 minutes than start building from there. count your calories and realize how many your eating and that will be a lot if your as fat as you say. you only live once so take charge of your life before you end up with more illnesses than you problably have already!

OP - if you are still there after reading that last message, I'm impressed. Some people are so negative! She does have some points, just start somewhere and you can build momentum from there. But I'm sure youv'e done enough beating yourself up, you don't need her to beat up on you too. I tell myself sometimes when I'm trying something difficult, As long as I don't quit trying, I will suceed. Keep trying!

Hmm, personally I think the OP is full of BS. Nobody just opens like that. I think it is a rouse to stir up people in the community and its working.

Yeah, you're right PP. Nobody ever feels the need to vent to people, especially in a forum like this. If you cant open up here, where can you? I am outraged by many of the attitudes on this website. There are so many toxic & unsupportive idiots out there!

I don't know if the OP was legit or not, but I'm sorry she/he isn't here. I hope she is still looking for help. With all the "toxic and unsupportive idiots" I can't say I'd blame her for avoiding us like the plague.
PS The perfect way to describe some of the people on here. I always said negative and unsupportive, but that is just not strong enough.
