OT - Harry Potter

Is anyone reading the new book? I just finished it and it was awesome. All the questions were answered and then some. Very satisfying!

I finished Satuday night. While I really enjoyed it, I don't really think all of the questions were answered. I am sad to be done with the series, though, and am mourning some of the character's deaths.

i finished on sunday... i loved it! i'm also sad about the end of the series and mourning some of the deaths as well. it's hard when you watch these kids grow up even if they are fictional. even though it wrapped everything up, i think the epilogue was a bit cheesetastic!

I read today that Rowling is in the process of writing another book, NOT another HP, but actually two books, one for adults, one for kids. I am so glad to hear that such a talented writer is going to continue writing!

I loved the endings...but the 19years later thing brought up SOOO many more questions!

1. What's Harry's profession?
2. What exactly happened to Teddy?
3. Where's the child named "Fred"????
4. How's George
5. Rest of the Weaslys?
6. The Dursleys?

Oh gosh I'm sorry but I am really not that computer savvy. Do this instead, go to mugglenet.com and use their link. Not only will you find that USA today article, but you will find loads of other links including JK's Today show interview. She really gave TONS of information in those interviews. mugglenet.com is really the best source of info, I think. I hope that helps! I love HP and am so sad that the series is at an end. Hopefully JK will do that character encyclopedia she talked about. I need more!! :)

bloomsbury (the publishing co) had a live internet chat today with JK. She answered TONS of reader's questions, the one I submitted was not answered :(. It was stil really interesting, though. Go to mugglenet.com for a transcript.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!

I am a huge HP fan and I loved it! I cried when the whole snape thing was explained. I loved snape because he is such a complex character. I did think the epilogue was cheesy, but it sort of had to be in order to wrap things up. I also cried like a baby when dobby died. sooo sad. I think that it will make an awesome movie if they make it longer than the last movie.

Slow reader here.....wanted to savor the last book. I agree, I loved the Snape story the best in the last book. Loved the complicated Dumbledore story too. Felt like the end was shades of "Star Wars"....a little over the top...and the epilogue dorky....so wizards and witches have their kids YOUNG and send them off to the same schools they went to...yikes...sounds like the Harvard club in the 50's. Oh well. I'd love to see them having better Muggle impact...you know, helping out with global warming...but I am a 60's gal.

As someone who didn't begin reading the series at all until book seven came out (I really had no interest until my book club shamed me into reading them), I can proudly say that I finished up the last one Thursday night! They were great. I was pretty satisfied with the ending - you knew that there had to be more to Snape than just "he's good, oh no, he's bad" so that story arc was a good one to put in there.

I also cried when Dobby died.

The one thing I did notice - death is a huge theme in these books. She doesn't always build up to a death, either. I honestly didn't think Sirius would die in the fifth book and I was surprised when Mad Eye died in the seventh. It does help keep them realistic, though. When is the last time a war (as she calls it a Wizarding War) was fought that no one on one side perished?

have a question...

What was the story behind that moaning baby under the chair about when Harry was talking with Dumbledore? Anyone have an idea about that?

I'm sure that was what was going to be left of Voldemort once Harry finished him off. That's what was left of his soul because he'd split it into so many Horcruxes.

I loved the book, and the series, but I do agree that there were too many unanswered questions in the epilogue. The fact that she answered them in interviews kind of sucks - there are so many people who won't see those; that information really should have been given in the book. Why leave it out?

So then, do you think that the moaning baby was similar to the creature that Wormtail put into the cauldron in "Goblet of Fire" when Voldemort returned to physical form?
