Alcohol question

Hi everyone,

I'm been staying off alcohol while I'm trying to lose weight, but tonight I'm going for a drink after work with a friend. I was wondering if anyone had ideas about what types of alcohol are best to drink when you're dieting, and which ones should be avoided. Thanks for any tips you can provide!

I think beer has vitamins and minerals. That would be my choice.

white wine spritzer probably has the lowest calories

whiskey & water. ounce for ounce, a shot of whiskey packs a bigger buzz with less calories. and the water you mix it with helps you stay hydrated.

...but also, choose something that won't make you want more.

Light beer, wine or a mixed drink with diet soda. Those would be pretty low cal. I would stay away from margaritas or any frozen fruity drink... WAY too many calories! Have fun!

Cocktails and fruity drinks are no-nos. A white wine spritzer would be good, but my best bet for being able to tell that you had a drink is a couple shots of clear hard liquor like vodka or light rum with Diet Coke. Clear liquor is usually lower calorie than darker liquors. A drink like that should only be 200-250 calories. Remember that for every shot/beer/glass of wine, that's an hour before you should drive, with the drink I just mentioned you shouldn't drive for two hours.

How many cals average in a Margarita on the rocks?

Probably tons! The sour mix will be loaded with sugar, on top of the alcohol. My guess - 400-500. I know most frozen margaritas are around 600-800.

I was always told to stay with the clear or light colored (vodka, gin, light rum, white wine) but try to limit it to 1 or 2 at the most, don't deprive yourself but don't throw away your hard work either and have a glass of water before during and after to.
