Please give me ideas for bag lunches

Hi, I am getting so sick of the food I bring to work every day. I have been buying food at lunch b/c I hate eating the same bagged lunch every day and I need some suggestions! I don't really have a lot of time to prepare, so I need something rather quick. This is what I am sick of:

hard boiled eggs
yogurt
soup
lean pockets
string cheese
carrot sticks
apples


If you have any other ideas for quick, healthy bagged lunches, please let me know!

Leftovers from dinner - those are my favorite!

-Turkey avocado sandwich (or really, any sandwich) - just use whole grain or low calorie bread
-baked potato topped with veggies
-lean cuisines
-tuna (sandwich, salad, or with whole grain crackers)
-banana and peanut butter

white bean paste instead of hummus once in a while
applesauce cups
raw nuts (almonds are great)
fruit leathers
yogurt and fruit smoothies in a thermos
cottage cheese w/ fruit

I'm into packing a salad w/lotsa veggies on it.
Often I will cook up a few chicken breasts one day a week & separate them into bags. It is a little bit of prep. work, but is nice to have lean protein over my salad.

I make extra salad for dinner and take some for lunch then top with a little protien, leftovers from dinner or canned tuna, sometimes a little feta cheese or sprinkling of almonds or walnuts, and my favorite low fat dressing. Add a piece of seasonal fresh fruit. I never get tired of this and it takes almost no extra time to make.

I make extra dinner and take the left overs the next day. Tomorrow I am having an asian noodle salad for lunch (at work) and a turkey, tomato, eggplant and yorshire pudding casserole for dinner (also at work). The second one sounds gross but man is it amazing! Its even a Richard Simmons dish lol.

Being single and living alone I use my crock pot to make massive amounts of soups, stews and chicken, then portion it out all at once to make like 7 portions, one for each day...it seems to work. 4 chicken breasts, one quart of salsa, frozen corn for 6 hours...YUMMY!

I love the cooking ahead ideas! I am a college student and yesterday was my first day back to class. I arranged my schedule so I would have 45 min. for lunch. I went and stood in line for 40 min and never did get any food errr so I am packing my lunch from now on. Also I will bring some almonds in a snack bag, they really seem to help. I don't want to get home and pig out because I am starved from no food!! I loved the idea about cooking a bag of chicken a week as well as the crockpot idea. I am not sure if there is a microwave around so I will make cold stuff until I find out! Thanks ya'll

Cooking ahead is the best idea. Or just making extra and bringing the leftovers for lunch the next day. Here's what I like to make:
- chili
- soups and stews
- salads
- sandwiches
- bring fixings for burritos - lettuce, tomato, beans, tortillas, cheese - and make them for the week
- fresh fruit
- nuts
- applesauce

Here's a filling recipe that you can make for dinner one night and take leftovers for lunch the following days...Turkey chili, it's from Men's Health magazine...
1 lb lean turkey, browned
Add 1 can Rotel(diced tomatoes), drain canned sweet corn, 1 packet (or I add 1/2 packet bc of sodium) taco seasoning, 1/4 cup water (or more to taste), and 1 can drained and rinsed black beans. Heat through about 20 mins. YUM, lots of protein.

Bumble Bee Tuna's spicy thai pepper(something like that) and add it to a pack of Uncle Ben's microwavable brown rice.

If you have access to a microwave, I've found that the Smart Ones meals are awesome!!! I usually have one and then some fruit, veggie or yogurt.

If you don't have access to a frig then the one serving bags of tuna are great: I dress mine with a made ahead mix of lime juice, chili sauce and small amount of pickle relish. You can put it on a salad, or use crackers, bread or a wrap, if allowed.

I also love this mix: when the tomatoes are good, it's my first choice:

2 tomatoes chopped 1/2" (I like to drink the juice of the mix to top off my meal, but, it won't be as wet if you squeeze out some juice and seeds first)
1 chopped red or green pepper
1 or 1/2 chopped celery stalk (your choice)
About the same amount chopped cucumber as tomato
Pressed garlic, if desired
1 T of Balsamic vinegar, or to taste (I like it tart!)
Handful chopped fresh basil
2 oz crumbled feta
Salt and Pepper

The entire recipe is only about 210 calories, with medium tomatoes and full fat feta. I usually only eat half: it makes a lot! It's great by itself, in half a whole wheat pita, over a salad.

I'll take some leftover pasta and some leftover beans, add chopped Roma tomato, fresh basil, grated cheese, olive oil, and basamic vinegar in a container; throw in a couple of olives. Make the night before.

Want to really lose weight???

Don't eat lunch, eat healthy snacks every 2 hours.

banana, tuna, V-8...
those Bumble Bee Tuna's spicy thai pepper are delicious but FULL of sugar - just bring a can-opener and eat tuna out of a coffee cup with a plastic spoon with mustard and relish - 150 cals almost all protein & a little omega 3

gross ? - who cares !

Be creative in the kitchen for dinner - try Rachel Ray 30 min meals or something - and then eat that for lunch the next day
