unexpected gift

I was going in for pre-surgery testing for some minor out patient surgery, when my doctor called and said we can't have surgery because my pregnancy test came back positive! I was told 2 years ago that my tubes were completely blocked and that I would never have another child naturally.
My shock was compounded by the fact that I had been on my period for 3 days! I told him I wanted a blood test to confirm, and low and behold pregnant again, and period stopped. I am still in shock and cautiously optomistic. I am terrified to be excited but I can't help feeling the excitement with future possiblities.

yikes. sounds like the doctors who told you that you couldn't get pregnant should be informed about their mistake!! it would be a shame for another woman to have to be surprised like this.

it's outrageous that you were told you could not conceive and then you accidentally did!! have you been on any medications that you should've avoided if you were planning a pregnancy? can you fit another child into your home? can you afford another child? hopefully, this is not devastating news for your family! what are you going to do about the misinformation you received? i hope you at least bring this information to the doctor who told you that you couldn't have more children. and that doctor's supervisor. this could be a terrible position to put a person in!!

OP here, I had orginally had a test where they shoot dye into your tubes to see if there is any blockage, this was two years ago and they were completely blocked. And since I am 41 years old I had really given up hope but had always hoped for another baby but didn't expect one and was starting to look into adoption. This is very exciting news for me, just really shocking. Thank you for all your well wishes, I feel very blessed and excited/scared, etc. in other words normal pregnancy feelings : )

My sister was told she would never get pregnant (she has severe PCOS) and she now has a healthy, beautiful 8 month old! Doctors are not always right-this goes with any diagnosis!

Congratulations! Wishing you lots of luck!! :)

given the explanation of the OP's diagnosis, i wonder if a second opinion would have yielded a different conclusion? i guess her tubes unblocked themselves over time?

OP I am so excited for you.
I have two nieces one had a child a little over a year ago and one is pregnant now and both bled alot their first three months. And with it came all the fears and so far we have one amazing baby boy and the other is still pregnant. So bleeding isn't always a negative sign.
I am 41 and have given up hope of having children it is good to see that it is still possible.
By the way my sister in law was told at 39 that she couldn't get pregnant and she now has twins.
Doctors don't always know everything,
