OT - Anyone here Greek?

Hey, I'm a Greek 17 year old girl living in NYC, and was wondering if there were any more Greeks on this site.

I always joke that it's hard for Greeks (and probably most old-fashioned Italians) to lose weight, 'cause food's EVERYWHERE.

Anyone else notice this? I mean..how do you say no to Baklava, tiropites, spanakopites, feta cheese, graviera, etc?

Oh man.

I am Greek, and I was always slim and tall, I didn't really get the pretty curvacious figure that my cousins got (I especially envied the bra sizes!)

But now I am 37 years old and I am no longer the trim girl I used to be. I am only 10 pounds overweigt, but it shows (in the thighs, which I think can be a Greek thing, but who knows) I am finding it veeeerrrrry hard to lose the extra weight!

I don't eat any of that stuff - except feta. And actually, feta crumbled on a salad is really low fat. Isn't feta one of the lower fat cheeses? Olive oil is also insanely good for you. In my super-slim days, I had olive oil every day. Not gobs of it, though.

haha-i'm not greek but i think people from almost every ethic background could use that excuse that they "are _______ so food is everywhere!"

think of your italian, jewish, german, portuguese, latino, irish etc families and how relatives are always saying you are too thin . . .

then there are parts of every country that are known for stuffing their friends and family. in the US, think of southern soul food, southern cooking!

food is love in many cultures!
