how far would you go for a parent? In laws?

Would you ever have them move in with you?

Great question.
I would do, if they really needed me to house them and take care of them. I would do it for my in laws too

But to be honest, as horrible as it sounds, I do not ever want to!

My mom lives with me now, and has for 5 years, in her own "apartment" in the lower level of the house (I'm not allowed to call it the basement! lol)

So far, its just a shared space arrangement, although I chauffeur her around everywhere, since she gave up her car 2 years ago. But, she is 78 years old, and its just a matter of time until she needs more & more caregiving.

We just have our mom left, but I'm one of 4, ages 27-37, and we've been play-fighting over who gets her when she starts needing a help. We all want her. She knows this and so has informed us that we all have to live in really cool places where she would want to spend 3 months a year or else we can't have her. Yes, she has set herself up as a prize to be won, lol.

In laws? None of us have any at the moment. I did, and I'd have done it because they were decent, undemanding people...but they weren't particularly bright or interesting. Hm, neither was their son.
