Need to resist tempation right now!!!

There is a yummy looking donut in my office that I really want to eat but it's probably about 350 calories. Help me say no to the donut! I want it so badly.

donuts r the devil!!

I hope I'm not too late...DO NOT EAT THAT DONUT!!! First of all, it might look, and yes, even taste good, but it will be gone in under 1 minute, and I guarantee You will regret it much longer than that! U don't need it, mayb try having an apple, or orange, any fruit! Or, u know what, if u really, really must have the donut, split it in half, or just have a piece and give the rest to someone else. You'll thank yourself!
Good luck!!

I'll try eating my apple, but I still want the donut! It's still calling my name.

Have 3 bites. Only 3. That way you actually taste it but you won't stray from eating in moderation. You only really taste the first 3 bites anyway. After that, it just becomes a gross sugar rush and you'll feel horrible afterwards.

I'm so glad u r taking my suggestion to try the apple! Good job! If u find u r not satisfied and still want that evil donut...u could always ask someone to eat it, to keep u from the temptaton, or even just thro that thing in the garbage yourself! I've done that before, many times, and when I do, I feel so empowered! Good luck!

Be a food snob

It really helps - work on becoming a food snob and you'll be surprised how many free treats are no longer appealing - it also means that you really will eat those treat in moderation, because the really high quality stuff is less common. Unless that donut was hand-made before my eyes in dutch Pennsylvania or some such place...or a beignet from a French restaurant...well, it's not worth the calories to me. Same with chocolate - hershey's? No thanks. A lovely piece of dark chocolate, 70% cacao, well, sure.

And hey, if you still want the donut, know that you're going to have to make up for it somewhere else. Low cal salad for dinner, or an extra hour running on the treadmill.

I have done a lot of reading on processed foods and sugar. It causes so much harm and can potentially cause long term illness/disease. Every time I see something that I previously thought was "yummy" I now say out loud "that's as bad as rat poison" Sometimes thinking of it as rat poison really does keep me from eating it. That or I pretend someone just sneeezed all over it.

Thanks everyone! I DID eat my apple, then I told a coworker to keep an eye on me and NOT let me eat the donut. I also asked him to eat it so I can't. He wasn't really of much help, He didn't want the donut and he said I could have a treat once in a while (he has no idea how often I do.) I ended up leaving work a little early and headed for the gym.

I really like the idea of being a food snob, only eating treats of the highest caliber. They are harder to come by but when I do eat them I will be more satisfied. I love dark chocolate truffles, but you never see them sitting around uneaten by coworkers.

In a moment of strength, take that donut and run to the bathroom and toss in in the toilet! Or put in on the floor and step on it, crushing it to bits. Then toss it in the trash! Sometimes coworkers are less than not helpful! Imagine, telling you it's not so bad to eat it! What do they know? I have a friend who will eat a few bites of the the dessert and then when she's thinking she shouldn't eat any more, she grabs the salt shaker and salts the heck out of it. Now she really wouldn't want to eat it.

Food Snob Here

I learned from the best - a few friends are chefs and being around them has taught me that I can always strive to only have the best quality for myself. I deserve it, and often that mean preparing my own food, which gives me more control diet-wise. By celebrating food in this way, it's not obsessing over stuffing yourself, but appreciating quality over quantity. I have also learned good lessons from them about portion size, especially that it is OK to not finish all the food on your plate, especially if the calories are not worth it! Growing up in a house that often didn't have a lot of food, it has taken me a while to learn that one.

I also remember a rasta man saying once "me nah eat dem kind of ting" (many are strict vegetarians) and that sticks with me - when I even consider eating something that I know is not worth it I remember his accent and think nope, I don't eat those kinds of things. That trick helps too.

This wouldn't help with the donut situation, but, along the lines of the salt shaker... If I'm at a restaurant with my SO (often), and I've eaten enough, but the waiter/waitress hasn't taken our dishes yet, I have a tendency to keep eating b/c it's right there. To curb this, when I'm done, I've gotten into the habit of taking my silverware and putting it across the table, on my SO's plate. He thinks it's funny/ridiculous, but really, it works!! You can't do it with someone you're not close with, though...
