inspired by muffin top thread..only not really

Anyone else have this problem? I have a really muscular stomach (swim team...butterfly...millions of laps..do the math lol) but it's not flat..so when i wear jeans (even big loose ones..it's not cause they're tight), you see like..the lines of my abs (the v shaped lines on the side).. and like..a light curving out. Everyone tells me it doesn't look bad and I'm thiking maybe it's just how my body's shaped (I am very curvy), but are there any ways to get it a little flatter? I DO still have around 20 lbs to lose to be my 'model' weight (based on a Victoria's secret model lmao..sooo maybe not the best goal), but I feel like I'm not going to lose more at my stomach..it's already hard.

Ughhh. any ideas?

I have the exact same problem, only I don't have much weight to lose at all, if any. Maybe five pounds in terms of your Victoria Secret model theory, haha. But yeah, I always feel like I look bloated, but it's muscle!

If you actually could stand to lose 20 pounds, that will make a HUGE difference on your midsection. Your abs may be hard, but there could still be a layer of fat that will shrink with some weight loss. I only have a few pounds to lose but the difference for my abs is significant.

You have the v-shaped lines that celebs get lipo for (they have a name, the something of apollo I think)...which means there's no way you have 20 extra pounds of fat on you. If your ab muscles are curving out, it's related to the way you're doing your abdominal exercises - it's why we're not supposed to push out when doing crunches.

OP back

Well, the 20 lbs is to be the final healthy weight for my height (135 at 5'9) so a) 20 lbs is very different on me that some people and b) lol It's more along the times of I want to lose 10.

I don't do crunches, though. I swim and run. I can't explain how it looks, but it's like you SEE the lines through the shirt. Maybe I'll try bigger shirts? But then they're baggy.

Also, I have a flat stomach, but how can I get it ultra flat? Like, the type of stomach that concaves when you lie down?

Um...the recommended weight for your height is 155, give or take 10.

Concave? I've never seen that on a real live human being, and in pics/movies, they're lying down and sucking it in. So lie down and suck it in, lol.

OP AGAIN

Actually, I'm 5'8.5 aand 155 and it's pretty chubby looking. So perhaps 140-135 will look better.

And lots of people have stomachs that go in a little when they lie down..real humans and all.

I've had a stomach that goes in a bit when I lay down, but never when I'm very muscular. You need to have very little muscle for that to happen, I think.

I know what you mean by the concave stomach thing. I had that until I gained weight. My brother used to joke with me that it wasn't fair that my stomach curved in instead of out or even just being flat. Oh, those were the good days! I'm not sure how to tell you how to get that look. I have always had strong abs & tend to hold weight in my hips & thighs instead of in the middle. So even at nearly 5'8 & 127 pounds, I still have a round booty & curvy hips...but a concave stomach. I have 23lbs & many workouts to get back in that kind of shape.

OP again

you were 127? lol that's amazing. Although I think our last healthy weight IS 135, so I'm not planning on dropping below that.

I tend to hold my weight the same way..more around the hips and thighs...that's why evenwuith the 15 or so extra lbs I do have a flatter tummy... just some extra 'junk in the trunk'.

I'm 5'9 too and was 130 for a long time... I looked like Olive oil. I def look better if I am more muscular and weigh more.
