energy bars for training/running

I usually look at these bars as meal replacements, but as I get more active, I want something to help me train and workout. any thoughts/experiences would be great!

I eat a banana for some potassium and carbs, but i'd be interested in something with a greater variety of nutrients.

i eat bananas too and i frequently eat a piece of bread with a serving of peanut butter on it before i head out on a long run. i hadn't ever considered pb before since it's so high in calories but i read an article on runnersworld.com and they suggested pb as an excellent source of nutrition for runners. they have lots of other suggestions too. just check out the nutrition heading. i also take advantage of GU energy gels on long runs too...

here's a link for the GU website... it really keeps me going on a long run! you can get them at running stores and some sporting goods stores... good luck!

I swear by GU and use them on long distance bike rides. You have to buy a few different ones and taste test them. I love the Chocolate Outrage flavor and wonder of wonders, real Belgium chocolate is listed higher up on the ingredients list. A small treat and a taste of chocolate at the same time. Perfect.
