protein shakes question@

Hi, im looking to lose a little bit of weight and tone up. Im a 20 y/o female and am not overweight but would like tolook extra good for summer. i was just wondering if protein shakes are any good for this as i have heard many conflicting stories. i do not want to bulk up just tone up. If any one can tell me what to do and how i should supplement it into my diet. Also if protein shakes are good then which are the best for my goals.

Protein shakes are for building muscle, not losing fat. They're only a good idea if you're a vegetarian who doesn't otherwise meet their protein needs (min 50g a day).
