Would you vote for Hillary Clinton?

I have to ask my fellow health and fitness goers as I believe since we're committed to bettering ourselves, I'd like to see who will "better our country". I think I would actually vote for Hilary at this point.

PRESIDENT HILLARY CLINTON

Absolutely! I am feeling charged and hopeful about her. She's seasoned, INTELLIGENT (omg how we need THAT quality in presidential leadership right now!!!), and she has great ideas.

I am ready for a woman as president too. Many other countries have gotten this together. I can't understand why a "progressive" society like ours has not been able to pull this off. We make up MORE than half the population.

our so-called progressive society mimicks the catholic hierarchy in so many ways. putting women behind the scenes is just one example.
i'd loooove to see hilary in the white house again, as president! and with obama on her ticket as vice president!!

she's the only one i am voting for! i am voting for her not because i am democrat, not because i think it's time for a woman to be in the president's seat, but because her goals for this country are right on the money. someone's got a big job ahead of them when elected to clean up what the bush left behind.

I agree with the 11:23 poster that having Bill as the helper would be good for America.. I'm not crazy about her though.. And I don't know enough about her politics to say yay or nay yet..

I do like Fred Thompson and I'm not a Republican and I am not afraid to say that the reason I like him is because I am a Law & Order addict..lol That doesn't mean he definitely gets my vote but if I don't like anyone else and no one stands out, he may win my vote by default..lol

My vote is for ANYBODY but Hilary. I'm ready for a woman president but I want the first one to be a woman I can respect, and who doesn't measure her success by how well she acts like a man. Also, couldn't our first First Mister be someone who would inagurate the position with some dignity and respect? Who wants the scandals to overshadow the important business of our country again?

Condy Rice anyone?

i don't think we'll have a woman president until people quit voting for a person because of her sex - and i say this as a woman. several posters here seem to indicate that they would vote for hillary simply because she is a woman. we won't have a woman president (or black, or hispanic, etc, etc) until people see their positions, credibility, and experience without seeing their race, sex, etc. as long as someone votes for hillary just because she is a woman, someone else will vote against her for the same reason. you can't vote someone into office because of something totally unrelated to how they will do the job. and that applies to the white men too.

as for hillary - i'm from arkansas and sick of the clintons. after bill was elected as president, most all the people associated with his governorship were arrested and/or disbarred due to numerous scandals, fraud, and illegal activites. the lieutenant governor (jim guy tucker) was heavily involved. and miraculously they all got pardoned as well. you can't tell me the clintons were the only people in that administration who didn't have a hand in the scandals.

just say NO to the clintons. plus i'm tired of the bush / clinton alternating presidency. who would be after hillary? jeb bush?

and those opinions have nothing to do with democrat / republican, so don't even go there.

I'd like to hear more specifics about why some of you dislike Hillary -- ie, what is wrong with her policy ideas? Everyone (myself included for awhile) seems to have very emotional responses to her personality, after she was demonized in the media years ago. Can you put your finger on WHY you dislike her? For instance, my FIL just told me that he wouldn't vote for her because she's "a tough nut" who SWEARS too much (!) Seems like a woman candidate just can't win -- accused of being either a soft female or a bitchy harridan.
And to the fan of Fred Thompson -- I'd like to respectfully suggest that if we want candidates who will be honest with us, perhaps we want to AVOID slick, charismatic actors for awhile! Maybe the slightly awkward, occasionally mis-stepping candidates are a little safer, warts and all. -- Good advice for picking a bf too, IMO :)

I know she is smart as a whip, but I get a sense from her that her smarts are really in the form of "I know what's best for you"- very typical of the Yalie types I know.

She seems to lack this core vision or mission. Bill Clinton had this "thats just not right" approach to things. It was very real, and human and I think it helped him get stuff done as president. At the end of the day, after all the sound bites and political bs is out of the way, we are hiring a CEO. What they think matters less than what they can actually do. It takes special skills to get things done. That is why I am pulling for a guy like Rudy, while he makes me cringe personally, he has a stellar track record. I'd also be open to any of the Democratic governors of western/southern states. Unfortunately those guys are shut out and we are stuck with a bunch of Democratic Senators. Senators don't do anything, don't run anything which is why they don't become president!

1) I don't like her philosophy of bigger government. Every program the gov. has tried to "fix" has just gotten more messed up and now unable to run without the government "helping". My personal experience is with the Farm Programs that everyone gripes about. At my core I don't believe that the gov. should subsidise (sp) farmers, but now that they have messed up the free market system in agriculture, farmers need subsidies to help them survive. As an uninsured selfemployed female farmer I shudder to think what will happen if the gov. takes over health care. And if they do, there will be no going back, because then they will have killed off all the market driven checks and balances. I do agree that health care needs reform. Too many uninsured under cared for individuals. But the truely poor are taken care of already if they choose to use the system. And we that are called the "working poor" Are striving to be able to afford insurance. (Incedently I don't consider myself poor, we have all the things we need, we just can't swing health insurance)

2)I am pro life

3)She is a woman and I am a woman and that is all we have in common. She does not represent any of my core values. I don't think it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a family. The village supports, but the family is where the child should learn character and values. Not the school.

I will admit that my dislike of her as a candidate is mostly viseral (sp). I think she is corupt, coarse, and has an explosive temper. None of those qualities are appropriate for a president.

P.S. I'm in a line of work that is mostly men, agriculture, and I know that you can do the work of a man without losing your femininity.

Would I vote for Clinton? Sure- the choices on the republican side are all uniformly unimpressive to me, so, I'd vote for Clinton if it came down to Clinton vs One of the guys the republicans are running right now...

BUT: I'd prefer to vote for someone new. If Clinton is elected, we will have either a bush or a clinton in the white house for over 28 years in a row (if you count bush one's vice precidency)

Man, I would love the chance to vote for Obama.

I have no clue who I'm going to vote for yet. I'm a big supported of gay marriage and women's reproductive freedom so those are two issues that absolutely make or break it for me.

Aside from that, I'm not really impressed with anyone beyond that yet and I'm waiting for them to show me what they really stand for. Hillary is ok-I did like Bill Clinton so I agree having him back in the white house would not be a bad thing, but I'm not going to vote for her for that reason alone. I think she is a strong, competent woman and it would be great to finally have a woman in office. However, I'm not sure she is the right woman for the job at this time. I get a sense that she is power hungry for that reason alone.

I'll make a point that has not been raised yet- certain people hated Bill Clinton, viscerally loathed him. Same thing with Bush, there was a visceral hatred by a vocal segment. I don't see Hillary creating that same loathing. She has neutralized herself and even made inroads into the right. Other than her health care thing (which she is only bringing up to distract the anti-war lunatics on the far left), she is pretty down the middle and where the average independent is. And those folks determine the elections.

No, never, ever, no, not, can't, won't, shall not, EVER.

Hillary Clinton is a socialist. America spent billions of dollars and fought two wars in SE Asia to prevent the spread of communism, which is a socialist form of government. Why would I want to elect her?

Being a woman is not enough. I am a man and would vote for a woman if qualified. I would probably vote for Condy Rice if she ran. I'd even consider voting for a moderate liberal woman. But Hillary Clinton is a wolf in sheep's clothing. She has very aptly taken moderate positions since her presidential candidacy became certain. However, her track record (even as first lady) has been VERY MUCH in favor of big government. Most notably her health care reform balogney.

Look at the results, not the gender.

Some very good posts in this thread. I think it is very important to 'forget' about the gender and just look at the person and mainly, what is her past record and is the person somebody you feel you can trust or is it all 'just PR' to get into the White House.

On a personal level, Hillary gives me the creeps, my gut feeling tells me she is not trust worthy. But this is neither here nor there, except that I know I will need to get the facts really well down before voting and a lot of research and not just hear-say and TV news!

How people can be so against Bill I do not understand, he did GOOD for this country and this country was flourishing under him. Period. Hillary? Has she done REALLY good this far?

As a New Yorker I am disappointed in her, she hasn't followed through on any of the things she said she wanted to see change. She really hasn't done anything. I think if it was a gender thing, I would rather see Rice in office and I'm a dem. She has a good record is extremely intelligent and in my eyes has proved herself. On a personal level I don't think this nation is ready for a female chief. I also think whatever female is in charge should have some sort of military experience. I like Rudy, he is sort of both on issues and I sort of like Obama but he is too inexperienced. And if any of you remember Clinton closed many military bases and put an end to a lot of our intelligence agencies, which I thought was a huge mistake. If we want to stay the best nation in the world we need to know what is going on. More funding for social programs isn't the answer to know what other countries are doing. And if anyone who lives here thinks that we have it bad in this country go live in another country! We live in the best country in the world, we have it really good here compared to many other places. I really think if you disagree you should go live somewhere else for 2 years and then see how you feel.

Vote for Hillary

Unfortunately I don't think this country (the average Joe) is ready to vote in a woman (or a black). I am a liberal. I hope Hillary is not nominated, as I think it will be the death for progressives. It will allow a conservative to be elected as our next president, not because Hillary is a bad candidate, but because she is a woman. Are people so naive in this country to think that the "ranch hand" in Montana etc. will vote for a woman? Let's get real. The Democrats have to come up with someone the Republicans really fear. And I don't think that is Hillary, because they know people are not ready to vote in a woman.
It is a shame we have to think this way, but we must have a candidate that most Americans will consider. I don't think most people are willing to elect a woman or a black. Sorry.
ps. Hillary is also beholden to lots of big money interests. And that means there will be too much payback time if she were elected.
