Which would you pick?
A marriage where you are hopelessly and romantically in love, wild highs and lows, arguments, make up sessions
or
A marriage with a lot more peace and stability, more like with a best friend.
I've seen both with my friends and I wonder what works for the long term.

i'd take the stability, the ease and comfort of each other over fighting any day.

I have the second, and I am very happy. 4+ years so far.

When I was in a passionate, yet unpredictable relationship...... I always dreamt of someday having the stable/ peaceful marriage.
Now that I have it ( love my husband), but all I fantasize about now is having passion..... I have even considered having an affair.

I had the second kind and it bored me to bits after 2 years. Now that I'm older, I know that I thrive on unpredictability in my work, in my romantic relationships, in my workouts, in bed, you name it. Which means I either need #1 or I'm not the marrying kind.

'They' always say that bored people are boring ;)
Hmmm, I've got bits of both - the hopelessly romantic part, along with stability, peace and friendship AND good sex...If I had to choose one or the other...#2 (as long as there's sex!!)

11:22 again...forget to mention that we're going on year 19 together and I'm still on pins and needles waiting for him to come after work, we still 'date', and he still knows how to surprise me :)

I am no expert on the issue, I am not married. But I say why settle. You can have passion and a best friend. Hold out for what you need.

I guess I would classify my marriage as the second one. Our relationship is very stable and predicatable which is a huge relief since everything else in our lives is CRAZY. Having a stable, comfortable relationship doesn't mean you have to have a boring life.
Also, since our relationship is so even-keel, people who know us might guess we don't have a very exciting sex life...they would be wrong! ;)

I'd say, I have a little bit of both and I wouldn't have it any other way!!!!
