does gaining muscle mean less fat?
This is an odd one, but I am trying to gain both muscle and fat. I lost too much weight by eating too many vegetables as part of my diet, and now I am "rebalancing"- so my question is can I gain both muscle and fat, or does the muscle building basically make it a lot more difficult?

When you are building strength - that is your body's top priority. Storing fat is secondary. Having said that - your body can only do any process so fast and thus if your caloric intake is sufficient you should be able to do both.
I would try to make sure I got alot of high quiality protein and fat like tuna or salmon in my diet. Perhaps protein shakes? In addition to protein, many of them have a lot of sugar to make them edible and your body will store that as fat.
