when weight training, do I do core work last?

someone told me that I should save my core work until the end of the workout so I don't fatigue those muscles that I need for the workout. The reason I ask this question is that my trainer has me do core work during the entire workout and he has me do a ton of it. Is this something that trainers do when they are just starting with a client- I am about 4 months into working with this guy, fyi. Thanks.

Generally, you should work muscles in the order of largest to smallest. For instance, working the quads, hamstrings, glutes, and lats followed by the pecs, deltoids, biceps, and triceps. The core should be engaged during the entire workout. And if you're working out right, you'll feel your abs working while doing just about any type of weight lifting.

If you're concerned about not getting enough work focused solely on the abs, try just doing pilates at home by yourself without the trainer on your "off" days.
