Your recommendations are solicited - Best workout tape you've done
Guys, I'm ordering for some workout tapes and I need some good tips here.
I'm a intermediate fitness level person. About 132 pounds, 5'1" in height. Main problem area, abs, buns and arms. I'm doing a few workouts tapes as of now, they are Jane fonda aerobics tape and a dance workout. Both I enjoy very much. But I'd like more variety.
What tape would you recommend for me.

The Firm. Bar none the best sculpting, get in shape dvds I've ever done.
Sunday, January 08, 2006, 10:18 AM
Definitely The Firm. I have used the DVDs with rotations provided on their website consistently for the last year and I love it!

I agree - I got into the best shape of my life with The Firm Aerobic Interval Training. (Of course that was 8 years ago when I was just out of college and I had no kids and all the time in the world).
I've also started doing a Kathy Smith kickboxing DVD which is awesome for beginners - really well done but still challenging.

Another fan of the FIRM here! I have the incline box videos and man am I sweating after a 45 minute workout.

I've enjoyed a couple of tapes by Kathy Smith, (1) Lifting Weights to Lose Weight and (2) Kathy Smith's kickboxing workout. I also enjoyed doing - and enjoyed seeing results from - Billy Blanks' Tae Bo Advanced tape. I had been doing kickboxing in a gym, but after graduating, needed a fix.
I hope this helps...

For Arms, Abs, and Buns I recommend TamiLee Web's I want that Body. The DVD offers 2 sessions of each body part, about 10-15 minutes each session.

The Next Challenge
I am a personal trainer and by far, my all time favorite circuit training dvd that will effectively sculpt the areas you are having trouble with is Cindy Crawfords 'The Next Challenge'. It uses simple movements, plyometrics, and combining to up the cardio effect and the burn.

Everyone i'm the original poster. Thanks so much for all your inputs. I have got a good idea now on what I'd like to get.

I'm horrible about working out. These dvd's have workouts broken down into 10min segments. Great for just starting out and when you don't have 30min or an hour, or just want to work your abs, arms or legs. I think they have videos for yoga and pilates, too.

Another Firm Believer here!
I love The Firm!

I love the FIRM too! I have four workouts from them and use them religiously. My shoulders and butt have definitely seen the results!

www.beachbody.com has the best exercise videos by far! I lost 16lbs in 6 weeks with Slim n 6, based on slim training. I just shrunk. I have also used their Power 90 program which is a 90 boot camp alternating cardio and weights as well as Turbo Jam, a dance and kickboxing workout in one, that one is really fun. All of these programs come with multiple tapes to focus on different things, abs, cardio, sculpting. They are full body programs and amazing! Go to www.beachbody.com and check them out! I know I sound like an ad, but I swear by them, cuz it works!

Leslie Sansone walk aerobics! Very simple, but a great workout.

Tamille Webb (she is the buns and abs of steel lady from the 80's)
I have her new one now and it is excellent, called "I Want That Body"
Take care :)

My favorite workout video that I've been able to stick with over 10 years is Elle MacPherson's "Your Personal Best" with Karen Voight as the trainer. It isn't available on DVD, but it incorporates aerobic activity with weights. You can get more information at www.karenvoight.com. I've also tried the Firm and Leslie's walking videos, but still prefer the one mentioned above.

I really like the FIRM as well. I have the total sculpting system 2, with the two-section Fanny Lifter and Scuplting Stick. The instructors are not too irritating (the music is really crap, thought), and the workout is good. I had to work up to being able to complete a whole tape over a week (I was a non-exerciser when I started) as I could only do about 35 minutes when I started. I like the toning and cardio mixed together, and it changes frequently enough that you don't get bored with one type of movement.

another one for beachbody.com
I second the Beachbody.com dvds. I've done Slim in 6, Project you, and Turbo jam. Liked Project you and Turbo jam the best (still doing Turbo Jam). The person doing Turbo Jam, do you want to start a group together? I'll start it, and call it Turbo Jammers. Hopefully you will see this post

Turbo Jam rocks!!!
I just have to put in my two cents about workout tapes. I have been exercising at home for the last 10 years. I have over 100 DVDs. I started out with The Firm and the results were incredible. However, the newer Firm workouts are not nearly as tough, or fun IMO. Then I moved over to Cathe "kick my butt" Friedrich and still do her step/cardio tapes regularly. She also has awesome strength training tapes. Most recently I tried Turbo Jam and am hooked! The music is awesome and the intensity level is up there where I like it. Kickboxing is one of my favorite cardio workouts and I like Cathe as well as TaeBo Live. I currently am tring complicated step workouts as I find that my mind needs to be put to use while I'm exercising. Good luck with your workouts everyone.

Billy Blanks is the man!
I am a very active 20-something and find the Tae-Bo tapes to be a challenge. At first I was apprehensive about purchasing a work-out DVD, assuming they would not be challenging. After receiving Tae-Bo bootcamp with resistance bands, I realize that I was definitely wrong. I use this as a strength workout as opposed to a cardio session. I feel as if I burn more calories doing my own cardio at the gym.

I love the Walk away the Pounds, 3 mile walk video.

Original Poster back again
Thanks to all. I did get the FIRM and the next challenge and loved them. Also a Denise Austin Pilates tape. I've enjoyed them for starters, I'll check on the results in a few weeks. About Beachbody, I did give a serious thought to it, but I'm a little sore in my pocket for now. One spotlighter also had terrific results with Turbojam and recommended it.

Tae bo ultimate butt edition was great i hurt for two days after that everytime. it is about an hour long, but it put my butt in great shape and actually toned it.

the only tape i have tried is denise austin's: shrink your female fat zones and i think it is pretty good, haven't done it in awhile because i go the gym instead, but i use some of whats on the tape at the gym.

The Jillian Michaels Biggest Winner dvd's are awesome, they kicked my ass into shape.
Wednesday, July 18, 2007, 5:50 PM
Anything by Crunch is great. They are fun to watch - colorful and well chereographed - and they all have awesome music. Fat Burning Pilates is a favorite of mine. Other workout tapes feel so cheesy to me but I don't feel embarrassed at all when I do my Fat Burning Pilates. Besides being a lot of fun, its an effective challenging workout without being too difficult or long. I have been doing it for years and I always get great results when I do it daily for a couple weeks.

I've heard a lot about The Firm workout and it's sparked my interest.
I did a search on Amazon and found a few different The Firm workout DVD's. Is there one specific one those that love it are speaking about?
I also found a link and was wondering if that is what everyone is speaking about. Help!?!?! Let me know. :-D
