Lowfat salad dressing- what's a good one?

I'm addicted to Girard's Champagne, Italian, and Caesar dressings, all of which have l/f versions which are good, but still pretty fatty. Any suggestions? I LOVE salad, but can't really stand the super healthy dressings.

I love almost all of the Kraft Light Done Right dressings. Especially the three cheese ranch!

Newman's Own Light Dressing is great. It has very basic ingredients, tastes great and doesn't have any sugar in it like the majority of other light dressings in the store

i just use balsamic vinegar straight... not too much though or it tends to make your mouth and lips a bit sore!

Trader Joes

IF there's one near you, they have a creamy cilantro dressing that is great for salads and cooking, some other decent low fat worth trying. I tend to make my own because I don't like all the added sugar and chemicals that are needed to make it low fat.

If you like the lf dressing you use, why not just measure the portion? One tablespoon will often do it.

good old olive oil and vinegar. May not be light but tastes great with lemon, garlic, salt and pepper. And so satsifying that you don't need to douse your salad.

I second the TJ's dressings. They have a Champagne Pear Gorgonzola Vinegarette that is low fat and amazing! I used to love Cucina Cucina FF house (mainly for cooking pasta dishes), but grocery stores near me have stopped carrying it.

One thing to note: I wouldn't go totally fat free. Fat is a great transport mechanism for getting nutrients to your body and you will absorb more of the nutrients in your salad if you eat a bit of fat with it (don't go overboard, but some is helpful). You will also be more satisfied. Measuring your portion is a great way to ensure that you are not exceeding your recommended amount.

It sounds weird, but my new favorite is soy sauce and rice vinegar. It really tastes great!!

Otherwise, red wine vinegar, sometimes with a little olive oil, sometimes not.

I make my own out of 4 tbs honey, 4 tbs apple cider vinegar, 3/4 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp of pepper. A little really goes a long way with this dressing and I only need 1-2 tsp for a huge salad.

not necessarily low fat, but I'm anti-low fat anyways. But it's a good fat...

In the blender, throw 1/4 cup almond oil, 3 tbsp lemon juice, slice of red & green pepper, tsp garlic, dash salt, dash cayenne, some onion flakes, bit of parsely, turmeric and puree.

I make my own salad dressing with oil and vinegar and herbs. Not necessarily low-fats but if you make it with canola or olive oil you are getting healthy fats. Once you make your own, you won't go back to the store bought kind

I'm also addicted to Girards Caesar. Even my husband, who generally doesn't eat anything green, goes back for seconds on salad. They are very good. I usually thin mine with a little water to cut the calories even further. They rock!

Newman's makes a ginger something or other that's VERY good and it's light. It doesn't even taste light. Very good when you have stirfry and want a side salad. Keeps with the asian theme and is very satisfying.

You can make a tasty one that is almost no fat- lemon juice, a little soy sauce, some salt, pepper, garlic.

I lo use like potatoe salads or cottage cheese as dressing or put My dressing at the side and dip My tines than spear My greens for less calories but a taste of dressing

I second the 9:41 post on the Newman's ginger sesame dressing. it's great on salads and I also do something called "dragon bowl" where you take brown rice and steam veggies, tofu or whatever and put the dressing on it. It's really good.

I also like Annie's Natural low-fat raspberry dressing for something totally different. It's kind of creamy feeling..it's my new favorite!

wild thymes meyer lemon salad refresher (i get it at super target), it has little fat and only 30 or 40 calories per serving. it also makes an awesome marinade for salmon, i pour some on just before it goes in the oven!

1 calorie dressing...

I use the spray dressing. 1 calorie per spray! For 2 cups of salad I use 20 sprays and its practically drenched in flavor!! Load up on all the flavors :)

I definitely just posted this in another thread, but in case anyone is checking this one and not that one...

My grandfather's favorite dressing, which is totally low-fat, is cocktail sauce with a squeeze of lemon. It's actually really good, particularly if you like a litlte spice. It's cool and refreshing, low in calories and fat.

I have a lot of things I do for dressings...I get bored easy
For ranch I take 1 Tbls full fat ranch dressing, 2 Tbls fat free ranch dressing and 3 Tbls fat free sour cream Turns out very flavorful.

For cesear I use 2Tbls +kraft full fat classic cesear, 3 Tbls fat free sour cream and 1 or 2 Tbls lemon juice.

I love Seeds of change tomato vinagrette with sour kraut. I know it sounds krazy but I make a big salad and top it with sour kraut and then add a little of the dressing and when you get enough room in the bottle I water it down a bit.

Just plain balsamic vinegar

Thousand Island- 1 Tbls Maries thousand Island full fat with 2 or 3 Tbls fat free sour cream.

Ok this is a strange one- I use Marinated artichoke heart marinade. Pour off as much oil as you can. Then take 2 Tbls fat free sour cream and add the marinade until you get the consistancy that you like. Maybe a little less than a quarter cup. It is just watery enough to coat everything easily and tastes really good.

and for a pre packaged one salads worth that you can take with you, Kraft Light Balsamic Vinaigrette is really quite good. And 25 cal for the pouch. I would guess there is about 2 Tbls worth in there.

And my new favorite is Kraft Tuscan house Italian. But it is so full of fat so what I do is make sure the oil has separated and stand it up in the sink and put a bowl under it and squeeze. Until all the oil is out of the container. You may have a tiny bit but you can get most of it out. Then replace the oil with water. And wash the container. This dressing is so flavorful and spicy that the water doesn't dilute it too much and it is just amazing. Love that dressing.

a little fat in your salad dressing is good for you- helps you absorb the nutrients. Very tiny amount of olive oil, plus some avocado and a tiny amount of blue cheese dressing gives your salad a bunch of flavor.

I like different flavored dressings for different types of salad. Both are good though.

My favorite right now is Annie's Natural Raspberry Vinegarette. 35 calories for 2 Tablespoons and the ingredients are too creepy. My favorite salad right now is mixed greens, grated beets, toasted walnuts and this dressing.

Some people think this is gross, but I like a spoonful of cottage cheese with red wine vinegar on top of my salad. It adds protein.

One dressing I like to use for a change is based on a can of no sugar added crushed pineapple. I drain the pineapple, saving the juice. Then I separate out about 1/4 of the pineapple to add back later for some texture, and blend the rest until smooth and thick. Add apple cider to taste (make it a little tart, for best results on a salad.) I like it with the addition of a clove of garlic, a bit of fresh or dried basil, salt and pepper. Also add 1-2 T olive oil or almonds or cashews, because the nutrients in greens are more easily absorbed when eaten with some fat. Use the saved juice to thin as needed. Store extra in frig.

Great on romaine or spinach with peppers and cucumber.

When I eat a salad I take regular dressing and put it in a little container. I then dip my fork in the dressing and then take a bite of salad. You use less dressing and don't give up what you like.

Warm dressing

I like to warm up Newman's Honey Mustard. Put 2 T in a small bowl microwave it for 15 sec and pour. The warming thins is a bit so you only need a little for a huge bowl of greens.
