until you walk in another's moccassins...

...do not judge the discomfort of another's feet. do a lot of you live this way? i try my hardest to do so, but it's gets very hard sometimes not to respond to others with utter disgust. it's another day-to-day struggle that i take on in order to be a better person. am i alone?

You're not alone. Now that I'm older I'm constantly striving to let go of what I think people should or shouldn't do/say and to assume good will in people, despite their actions. Of course, I'll catch myself coming from yoga and yelling 'd*ckhead!' at some reckless driver, and the absurdity of what I just did makes me shake my head, and sometimes laugh. It reminds me that I'm far, far from perfect and shouldn't judge others!

i was just thinking about this on my way into work today... i've walked in the shoes of a naieve skinny girl, then in the shoes of an unhappy fat girl, now i'm very close to being the skinny girl again. as they say hindsight is 20/20... i can now see things from both sides, i know how it feels to be athletic and thin and how it feels to be miserable and fat. i'm actually kind of glad i got fat, because now i know how awful i probably made people feel when i was thin and judemental the first time.

i hadn't had to struggle with weight issues for nearly 2 decades when i was faced with the issue again. it's great to have perspective from more than one vantage point! it really builds and develops empathy...
