weight loss success story!

After years of trying every diet imaginable I was introduced to a nutrition plan that changed my life, and my body! In 8 months I lost 25lbs of fat and gained 14lbs of muscle. My body fat went from 16% to under 5%. Nutrition is something I've always been passionate about (I could talk about it for hours, sad I know) and have learned that it is the single most important element to getting lean. I'd love to share my story w/ any one who is interested!

panzer plan

It is my understanding that this group is to actually help others lose weight. I hardly see how accusing someone who has actually been successful at losing weight of being a holocaust victim or POW. This is usually the type of response that comes from jealousy, ignorance or frustration w/ ones own failure. If anyone feels that I might be misleading them or have an unhealthy body fat percentage I would encourage them to look at my before and after pics on the panzer plan website. I would also encourage any before and after pics from others who have successfully lost weight w/ other plans.

I agree, 5% body fat is very low, but if you take a look at the guy he is pretty thin now. Cole is lookin pretty good though, lol. Ripped abs. And no, I am not a spammer, just a regular PT person. :)

I don't understand how someone can have 3-4% bodyfat (see his bio on that link) and be healthy. I thought men needed to have at least 10% and women at least 15% with optimum for men 12-15% and for women 15-20%.

Oh yea, tho I don't quite agree with the way it was said, 5% is so low that it does make me think of starving bony people like in the concentration camps and POW camps. Somebody please tell me how it can be healthy to have so little body fat. Lot of fat's not good I know. But everybody needs fat. Without it you die.

For men, they really don't need as much body fat as women do because they're not getting pregnant and nursing. Looking on some different websites, the recommended minimum body fat for a man is around 8%, but I've heard of lots of guys who are extremely athletic who are under that and are perfectly healthy. Also, have you checked out Cole's pic on the link? His body is pretty freaking hot. Definitely not POW style skinny.

I noticed on the success story that 'Cole ate too much of the wrong foods." Okay, that pretty much guarantees one won't lose weight. You can eat too much of the right foods and have the same problem. It all goes back to fueling yourself with good foods and eating proper amounts to facilitate weight loss!

Bodyfat percentage - What is Too High/Too Low

I recently posted about my weight loss success story http://peertrainer.com/LoungeCommunityThread.aspx?ForumID=1&ThreadID=86706
and was a bit surprised by some of the responses I received about my body fat percentage being too Low. When it comes to weight loss there seems to be an overwhelming emphasis on numbers (Lbs, %, etc.) and not actually on how people look and feel, which is really what this is all about. We all want to look good, feel good and be able to fit into the desired clothing.

I am an NASM Certified Personal Trainer and am well educated on the topic of body fat percentages. I do, however understand the obsession w/ numbers and have included a link w/ specific data or those of us that are less informed.

PT - I think Cole is using this site to advertise his own site and to also advertise something that goes against the purpose of this site. The point of peertrainer is to promote healthier life styles, not Lindsay Lohan esque anorexia or Mr. Cole's ideas of "healthy".

Either he is lying about his % body fat, or he is tampering with nature by keeping his percent body fat so incredibly low. For a woman to try that, they would have to basically near kill themselves, stop mentrauting, become fertile, etc.

It is unhealthy, and I would prefer if Mr. Cole no longer advertised his unhealthy methods to those trying to be healthy.

I would like to speak up in defense of my bf, who is NOT Cole, but who is a competitive athlete at v. low bodyfat. Some people are using this site to lose weight, but if others are using it for competitive training their bodyfat percentages are going to fall in a different, perhaps unusual range. This does not automatically make them concentration camp victims.

If he is offering services for free to his fellow PTers, let him stay. I doubt that is the case. If he wants to sell services on the site he should be charged for advertising costs. What if every 'certified personal trainer' were allowed to start threads in the community about their success and services. That would certainly change the purpose of the community forum.

For those of you out there who are actually interested in getting fit and looking good, I enjoy talking about training and nutrition and would be happy to help in any way.

Unlike a number of the replies to my original post, I have not been rude to anyone or discussed anything that is unhealthy or not useful.

I'm actually quite healthy myself - I just ran the NYC Marathon and finished in the top 15% of all runners.
