One of my running buddies wears this thing called a "waist trimmer" when she works out. It looks like a girdle kind of, made out of stretchy material that youre supposed to wear when you do cardio. I am kind of embarrassed to ask why she does this-- but I saw the same one when I was in a sporting good store today & all the box said was "Valeo Neoprene Waist Trimmer"...it didnt have any blurbs or anything about the actual product on it...but I am dying to know...what does this thing actually do?!?

I have no idea, but I can tell you that I would've liked one of those about 40 pounds ago after I had my baby! My stomach was so floppy it kind of freaked me out - anything to keep it still and in place would've been great!

There is an idea out there, which I think might be reasonable but can't point to evidence to support, that having something making you conscious of keeping your abs engaged may be helpful in improving the tone of those muscles. I'm just guessing that maybe that is the idea behind this gadget.
