Water weight, bloating, etc.

How does drinking lots of water flush out the bloating caused by eating lots of salt or other things that cause retaining water? I've seen a few posts recommending this, and my mom mentioned it too. It seems counterintuitive to me that drinking MORE water results in LESS water retention. I'm open to learning what's up behind this idea. Thanks in advance.

the idea is salt causes water retention, so if you flush out the salt in your system then less fluid retention the rest of the fluid is eliminated via your trips to the loo

there's a difference between intracellular water, and intercellular water. Water retention stores water intercelullarly where you don't want it, drinking water helps intracellular water, and helps eliminate things (like salt) that cause intercellular (bad) water retention.

It's like adding moisture to your suite via a humdifier is different than pouring water on your floor. You want the moisture, but in the right form.

Man, that "intra" and "inter" stuff really confused me. But thanks for your metaphor with the humidifier, now that made sense. Drink, drink, drink.

magnesium really helps to hydrate your cells and flush out the unwanted extra cellular water
