There's chocolate in the break room

So far I've avoided it, but as it gets closer to lunch, I'm starting to want it more and more. Please encourage me to stay away!!!

DOn't do it!!!! You'll regret it so much so. THe chocolate is for those people who want huge thighs and a big butt without energy to even get through the day. STay away.

It is okay to eat chocolate, just in moderation...

Be tough, you can do it. Take a walk around the building, or go find a healthy snack to have instead. Or, a small cup of sugar free hot chocolate may be enough to cut the chocolate craving.
Do it for YOU!!!

OP here

Yes! You're brilliant!!! Sugar-free hot chocolate! Mmm! I'm excited already. First water, then my lunch, then, when I see the box of chocolates mocking me, I'll instead go to the cabinet with the hot chocolate mix and make myself one.

And I know the moderation thing too, but I'm just starting off again on this journey, and, at this point, will not be moderate about the chocolate, but will have several if I have any.

Just tell me where you work. I will come and dispose of the chocolate for you.

Drink hot tea, chew some gum, eat your lunch early if you get hungry. Go for a walk - if there is a market near by, get some sugar free halls vitamin C to suck on.

Definitely stay OUT of the break room - I know I can't sit and look at it and not indulge...if it's not in front of you you're less likely to eat it!

I worked in a place that was over the top in the snack sense. I am not much of a rule person (or a diet one either) BUT to get past all the crap that was constantly staring me in the face I developed a strategy....which was...AT WORK if I didn't bring it....I didn't eat it... EVER.

I ate chocolate...but only the best chocolate ( that I paid for and brought to work and ate in TINY quantities).

And guess what....I lost about 50 pounds I gained working there. I eventually quit too because I didn't like working there and that drove a lot of my eating. But that is another story.

Staying out of the break room is, unfortunately, not an option. It's a small little office (only 3 of us) and what I am calling the "break room" contains our fax machine, color printer, copy machine, and, most importantly, the water cooler. I'm way better now though. I had lunch, homemade split pea soup a co-worker brought in for me (probably not the healthiest, but way delicious and way homemade), some honeydew melon, and an orange juice. I'm full and happy. And I have cranberry juice in the fridge and powdered sugar-free hot chocolate in the cabinet if I start to get weak later.

"accidentally" drop it on the floor that way you won't eat it. I used to do that when I was mentally fighting myself to not eat something. Weird or funny I know, but it works for me.

I totally get you, previous poster, and in a month I hope to be in the same place you are. But right now, I'm just not. I know myself well enough that if I start, I just won't stop. So, I can't start. I can't and I won't. And talking about it all day has made me not even want it. And I'm looking forward to the gym tonight, which I never, ever, ever do. This is how I know I'm going to be able to do it right this time. Writing it down, working out regularly, eating the stuff that makes me happy for longer than the moment it's in my mouth. It's all good. I'm going to get there.

I totally agree with on the moderation issue. When you are starting out it is better to learn to resist it and make it your decision and not a giving-in moment. I follow serving sizes too and when I have a planned indulgence I stick to a single serving of my desired food.

Stupid chocolate is still there. Saw it when I went in to fill up my water bottle. I think maybe my yogurt will be a pre-lunch snack rather than part of my lunch.

I'm here in Chicago if anybody wants to come take the chocolate off my hands.

Ask the person who brought the chocolate in to have some pity on you and to keep the goodies at her own desk. If that doesn't work, gather up all the offending goodies and throw them in the garbage.

I dotn think that throwing away the chocolate would be a very mature or constructive thing to do.

I think I would get lynched if I threw away the goodies at my workplace (even though they comment on how they 'really shouldn't be eating this' as they take another piece...)

Costco brownie bites

I just went into our breakroom and found a whole thing of costco brownie bites - i was just there looking to make hot tea. Me and my hot tea are back at my desk. I'm posting this in hopes it will distract me from those brownie bites that are howling my name.....

STAY AWAY

If you must have chocolate, try South Beach Diet 100 Calorie Snack Bar - Chocolate Delight. Buy a box of 5 and keep it in your drawer or locker. That way you have the best of both worlds. You will keep your weight down and enjoy the chocolate. I wish you well.
