drinking water & b/r breaks all night

I am a newbie & one of the things I hate about drinking more water is how much it makes me run to the john. In my traveling lifestyle this is not always convenient. I especially hate it when it wakes me up at night ( twice last night and I had gone right before bed and also first thing upon awakening).

This interrupts my sleep and I have a hard time going back to sleep, even though I am sleepy. The last water I drank was at dinner.

I have tried earlier, but still run into problems.

Does any one else run into this? Does anyone have any ideas to help with this? Found any solutions?

Thanks in advance!

actually, i've read medical articles that say having to go to the bathroom once a night is a sign of health -- you're well-hydrated.

maybe it's not the water. maybe you have a bladder control problem? try talking to your doctor.

For me, good sleep is more important than anything, so if I was experiencing this, I'd cut out the late night water drinking. I have to have my sleep or I feel like complete crap at work all day.

In my experience, your body gets used to falling asleep again after a while. Has this been going on for real long? If not, you might just want to give it 2 weeks and see what happens...

Gee, I thought there would be more people dealing with this problem.

Nope it is not a bladder problem, if I drink normally I do not usually wake up at all.

I just started on a weight program so started drinking lots more water, thus going more at night. Whenever I start a diet program and increase my water intake this happens.

I do not drink anything after dinner, but I guess I need to work on getting more of it in early in the morning ( when I am less interested in lots of water) and stopping sooner.

I tend to be a light sleeper and once I wake up it is just harder for me to go back to sleep, so obviously I would rather not wake up.

Oh well, maybe my body will get more used to it.

Take magnesium. It helps to hydrate your cells and not add to bloat or restroom breaks.

I've heard that your body just gets used to it over time, so for the first week or so, you may be getting up a couple times a night; then it'll go down to once a night, and then to no times per night. Just stick with it, and it should get better!

I also have the same problem, although it bothers me more during daytime than at night.
When I try to drink the 8 glasses that's recommended, I have to run to the restroom every half an hour. It's especially inconvenient when i try to go for a walk during lunch. It does help when I try to do my kegels. I just forget to do them on a regular basis.
