8 weeks - No Alcohol Challenge

I am going to stop drinking for 8 weeks, and wanted to find out if anyone would be interested in joining a group just for this?

I hope you get some company! I'm wishing you luck, also--I can't join you because I already don't drink, but I know how hard it is just to go off sugar by myself, so I really hope you find some support that can really relate to the challenge! I'm impressed that you didn't use the available excuses--I tend to succumb for any excuse not to go off sugar completely when I'm considering it.

Sign me up

But, like the other poster, I am only in it until St. Pat's. I have already begun. I made that promise to myself last week. I said "Self, no drinking until St. Pat's" Myself agreed and I am one week down.

OP Here
I am starting tomorrow. I have been a daily drinker for the last 7 years.... and a dieter for the same amount of time.

I currently weigh 220 pounds ( 5'3" female). I have dedicated myself many times to lose weight, but never without drinking. I am challenging myself to see what I can do with 2 months of full dedication. Not just physically, but mentally.

Who is with me to rise to the challenge?

fine, count me in. But I suppose this means I'm going to have to start logging again...

I actually decided to lay off alcohol for a while. I don't think it's that healthy, and I certainly know my distilled liquor/liquers mixed with juice and syrups isn't healthy. My motto: my drink better be colored, sugary and come with a garnish... The "booze box" has been stored away out of sight...

I've been doing this since January 1 and have lost 4lbs already, and its helping me kill my social smoking habit. I did the math and found I was consuming 2,000 calories per week in alcohol. I'll go another 8 weeks with you. I miss drinking less and less. My skin is clearer and I don't wake up feeling like crap so much!

I just want to say Congratulations to all of you who have decided to do this. I am not much of a drinker (too expensive and actually just really don't like the taste of alcohol). Sugar, on the other hand.....:)
Good luck to all of you!
