How can I lose weight quickly? :/ I don't have much of an apetite at all due to depression so I know I'm not OVER eating. I usually have a 6" turkey sammich from TOGOs for lunch with mustard, lettuce, tomato pickles and pepperccini(spelling). I also try egg salad with some crackers. I like a lot of bland foods like barley. I also love veggies and tuna. I dont like red meat very much. Any ideas? Also, are there any exercises I can do at home that are simple? I want to get rid of my tummy (the little pouch under belly button, specifically)

Well, there are many general guidelines for losing weight, and many ways to go about doing it.
* Aim to lose 1-2 pounds per week. Any more can be unhealthy, and losing slowly will help you maintain your weight loss later.
* To lose weight, you need take in less calories than your body burns. You can either eat less, exercise more, or both. To lose one pound, you must burn 3500 calories. That's 500 a day for one pound a week. You could cut 250 calories from your usual diet and do 30-40 minutes of exercise to achieve this.
* Make sure you are eating enough. From what it sounds like, you are only eating lunch! Try to eat 4-5 small meals each day if you can, for a total of around 1500 calories. Don't skip breakfast.
* A combination of cardio and weight training will get your body into shape and also help burn calories. Walking, jogging, biking, swimming, jumping rope...whatever you like! Doing weight lifting will help reshape your body, and also builds muscle which helps burn more fat.

yup-gotta count those cals one way or another
Whether you're couting points or carbs or cals, you have to monitor intake, and take in less than you burn.
Also, the fact that you're depressed---are you less active? Your metabolism may be slow because of that. Are you on any meds? That could also be a factor. I suggest talking to your doc if you are on meds to see if there are any interactions you should be aware of.

I'm concerned about your depression. If you have no one in whom you can confide, many communities offer phone numbers for free help. These phone numbers are often in the phone book under "help line" or "crisis line" or I know the United Way has folks who can direct people to the best resources for their situation. We care. i basically found out i wasted 2 years of my life with some guy that didn't really care. i cant afford to go to school (i'm 19) and i'm working full time as an administrative assistant/accountant. My metabolism is very fast, so even if i eat a 6" sammich, about an hour later i'm seriously hungry again. and its not a craving, it's actual hunger. but i tell myself "well, i just ate an hour ago" and i deal with it, or i drink some water. sometimes i snack on baby carrots all day long at work, which keeps my metabolism contstantly going.
and the only thing my depression is affecting is that i dont have any MOTIVATION to eat. i feel like a lard so i do crunches and whatnot at home but i am also completely shy and ashamed of my body to go to the gym alone. i'm a naturally big-boned girl (thanks, dad) and i have a curvey body (naturally), so i just want to lose weight in certain areas. like i'm a very wide person, so i want that to slim down and i want my gut and my thighs fixed. :/

That kind of depression is really hard to kick and even now that I've lost some weight I still find I slip back into the self-hating "don't make me go out in public" thing. Also, 19 is young, though it definitely doesn't feel that way, and your whole world has just opened up with possibilities of nice men who will like and support you.
The best advice I can suggest is to join a gym and just grit your teeth. The first few times you go will be intimidating and maybe even a little embarassing if you aren't sure what sort of things to do. The more quickly you establish a routine by talking to a trainer or looking online (or talking to us!) for some ideas about basic exercises to start the more comfortable you will feel. Every gym I have ever been to has been populated by a real range of people from the super skinny exercise addicts to the seriously obese trying to get healthier. Maybe just do the exercise bike for the first few times, and watch what other people do around you to get some ideas. Or join with a friend who has more experience.
If you really can't stand the idea of that environment, then get walking or jogging around your neighborhood or a park. It always feels like everyone is looking at you when you're out in public, but they are so concerned with thinking everyone is looking at them that you probably won't even register on their radar.
Eating better is just one step, but I cannot overstate how great exercise can make you feel - endorphins, watching your body shape change, feeling like you have accomplished something by meeting a new goal. It's all great and I wish you the best of luck.

The breakup of a relationship is very, very hard. I remember the shock, anger, loneliness, despair, and hopelessness like it was yesterday. I remember how everything looked bleak and how difficult it was to just get out of bed. I wish I could fix it for you. I'm including a bunch of warm hugs with this note... just pull one out and use it whenever you need it.

Also, don't be afraid of talking to your doctor about medicating or going to a therapist.
A routine will probably help you with eating and exercise. Try and plan out your meals and snacks and when you will exercise, and do it the same every day if possible.

welcome to your crisis
I heard about this book (haven't read it yet)-- the premise is that when a crisis happens to you, this is the time that you will begin building your new life. It sounds crazy and impossible, but now that I am on the other side, I can tell you it is true. Four years ago I got dumped from a longterm boyfriend, had alienated my family and friends, was in despair, also btw 70lbs overweight. It was the lowest point of my life. So I started rebuilding. I improved my health, lost a lot of weight, but also made important changes on the inside, gained a lot of power in my life and self-knowledge. Then 2 years ago another low point, very lonely -- this forced me to actively seek out the person who is now my fiance. :)
Ask other people -- I suspect they will tell you that the hardest times in their lives were the turning points that led to the best things in their lives. I would never have guessed at the time that I would later be grateful for all those crises!
