Need help to lose weight about 35 pounds - in 3-5 months

Hi, I am 31 and 150lbs - height 5 ft.

I have always been at 115lbs. I had 2 children in last five years and now I am at 150lbs. Now that my youngest is 4yrs, I think it is about time for me to try and get back healthy weight and get my old self back.

I do try and exercise 3 / week and eat healthy ( vegetarian).. but I don't seem to shed any weight.

Any advice?

Thanks.

You can be a vegetarian and a) eat too much for weight loss and/or b) still have an unhealthy diet. Define 'healthy diet.'. Some people eat more than they need simply b/c they've attached a 'healthy' quality to it.

If you're not losing weight I'd first assess quantity - how much food are you *really* eating? A handful of almonds here, a couple of scoops of hummus there, etc = no weight loss over time.

Then I'd look at quality. Are you eating a lot of easy, processed foods? Energy bars, crackers, things with more ingredients then you spell or count? These calories add up fast and often leave you wanting more. You can eat a lot more than you realize b/c they just don't sate, so while it feels like you're not eating much, you're actually eating enough to either maintain your extra weight or, worse, gain.

And why the time limit for weight loss? Figure out what's stopping you from losing the weight, make the necessary changes, and keep at it.

quality & quantity

That pinpoints my behavioral problem. Handful of healthy almonds here, extra scoop of hummus there. I'm eating a whole lot of quality food, which keeps me heavy in spite of the nutritious value.

That's the behavioral problem. I also have a vitamin D deficiency. Found out last month. That has caused fatigue, which has in turn kept me from exercising regularly. Major weight gain! Ugh.

Thanks for your insight!
