Before:
Me in October 2010 at 229 lbs.
After:
The white dress is me in 2001 at 135 lbs. close to my goal weight.

My Goal:
My ultimate goal is to lose 85 lbs. To make this more doable I will break it down into 10lb increments. I want to get down to 130.

Update 5/26/13 - Gained back most of what I lost but am back again to make this stick. Wish I had a magic wand so I could go back and not get so discouraged when I plateau. I plateaued at 170 and gave up on PT. I tried WW but was never really committed. I have decided to come back. One thing I remember quoting is that I will not give up until they put me in the ground. I think this is an appropriate quote. My goal until July 1 is to commit to logging my calories and food daily. I will add another goal next month. I'm hoping to be able to give up eating so much junk and bringing more fruits and veggies into my diet. It's not that I don't like them; it's that junk sounds better.

Update: I have so far gained back 10lbs that I had lost :(. I will not, however, be defeated!! I began back again on Monday June 13 and so far it is going well. Just 2 days out but I'm determined to still lose 50lbs this year!! After I lose the 50 lbs. then I will make a new goal. I will not be defeated by the scale!!

Update: Having almost lost the first 50lbs I have decided my new goal is to lose 30lbs. by Christmas 2011. That is 2lbs. a week. My average has been around 1.38 lbs a week however, this also includes from April to June when I was on my "hiatus" from dieting so I believe it's more like 2.2 lbs per week.

Update 1/10/12: Well after falling off the wagon - yet again - I'm back! But I'm going to keep on keeping on!! My new yearly goal is to lose 50lbs. My 3 month goal is to lose at least 16-20 lbs by April 28. That is when my mini sprint tri is. That will put me between 165 and 169. I refuse to give up. Not until they put me in the ground!!

Exercise goals:
1. Walk/run on the treadmill at least every other day.
2. Do Xen Yoga at least 3x a week.

QUOTE:

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow" (copied from Stubbs on PT)

"Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it" -Confucius (stole this from garyp)

Update: Well...I'm back. After losing my focus I am ready to get back on this kick. I have gained back around 10 lbs. since March. I want to manufacture motivation and I will do whatever it takes to do this. I have been reading my Magic Fridge Book, The Cheat Diet info and listening to the Point of No Return Tapes. I want to start again with logging and counting calories and listening to my hypnosis tapes. I have also been walking some. Not every day and I am having problems getting up early to walk but I'm not going to give up. I'm going to keep trying until I get this right!!!

.

About me:
I'm a 47 year old mother of a 21 year old girl with a 25 year old step daughter and a 27 year old step son. I would like to be healthier and decrease my risk for disease. I would like to change my lifestyle and eat healthier. I would like to run a half marathon. I would also like to lose 85 lbs. I have gained and lost and gained and lost weight most of my life. Nine years ago I lost around 70lbs. I was at my lowest weight ever. I weighted 135 and I felt great. I eventually left my husband who was emotional abusive. I also started a new job and slowly the weight crept back on. I had also been exercising and I stopped when I got the new job. I also lost 50 lbs.after remarrying about 3 years ago. I put that weight back on as well plus some. Now my new marriage is going well but I'm ready to get rid of these excess pounds once and for all!! UPDATE: I want to try again to work on this and manufacture some motivation. I have been listening to various things and reading some old material on weight loss to get my motivation. I think sometimes I just get bored and lose faith whenever I don't see the scale move. Then one thing leads to another. I am currently at 210lbs. That means I have 31lbs. to go to goal for this year. Perhaps I can lose 31lbs. in 3 months. I lost the first 32 lbs. at the beginning of this year from January 3 to March 30. Update 1/10/12: Well I'm determined to lose 50 lbs this year!! So far I've lost 44lbs total. My new goal is to lose 16-20 lbs by April 28.

Diets I like:
Calorie Counting currently my daily calorie goal is 1500 or less; Diabetic friendly as my husband is diabetic

Workout of choice:
Run Your Butt Off (RYBO) 4 days a week. "Real" bike ride 1 day a week. Exercise bike every other day - on days I don't do a "real" bike ride or walk/run.

My plan:
Calorie counting. Update: I will start calorie counting again on Monday June 13. Update 1/10/12: I have begun yet again! I will not gain back all the weight I've lost. I REFUSE!! November through December were just bumps in the road!!

I need the most help with:
1. Discipline when going out to eat. 2. Patience - knowing that I didn't get fat overnight and I will not lose the weight overnight. 3. The strength to bust through plateaus! 4. Remembering to take things one step at a time and remembering that sometimes those steps are different sizes.

Additional Info:
I tend to go all out for something for an extended period of time then I lose patience and fall flat.
