I have gained alot of weight these last 2.5 years after quitting smoking and working from home. I am someone who has always stayed thin and active and am finding it difficult as my husband works shift work, I work from home and my kids are too young to go out with me in the evenings!

I'm 53, married, and have two boys, ages 15 and 12. I was on PeerTrainer in 2012, diligently did Point of No Return, and lost 15 lbs, then I injured my back (2 torn discs) in September 2012. With all the pain I was in-- and the fact that I couldn't get to my refrigerator for a lonnnng time-- lost another 5 lbs, for 20 total. I've been in physical therapy now for almost 9 mos and have realized that 10 of the 20 I lost have now crept back on. I refuse to go back to my "fat clothes"-- in fact, I think I got rid of most of them, so this is do or die for me. I lost my job due to my injury too, so we are living through a very stressful time but need to stay healthy through it all. Stress and menopause are wreaking havoc on my body as what use to be my body's "favorite weight" of about 150 over the past two years has crept ever upward, despite exercise. Bottom line is I need to lose 20 lbs-- but most of all I want to stay healthy and strong so I can be chasing my boys around for another 10 years. I play piano, love knitting, enjoy gardening, quilting, photography, love to read and follow politics. Oh... and I have that COFFEE thing going on as well.

















I’ve always struggled with weight, since age of 12. Been on many diets, but after having a baby and crossing the 40 years old line, I cannot lose weight and keep it off. I am 40-50 lbs overweight, can barely play with my 4 years old, not much energy, demanding job with long hours, and no inclination for cooking. I find it difficult to eat only specific foods or make sophisticated recipes especially that I’m at work most of the day.

I had hip replacement surgery last May, and the exercise I get just walking aound here has been good for me. I'm a stay at home mum of a nearly 2yr old girl, 2 boys 6 and 11 and a thirteen yr old girl, all very gorgeous. My lovely husband has a sedentary job, eats what he likes and hates exercising but stays thin which is utterly frustrating! I like doing almost any form of art or craft and like to always have some project on the go as it keeps me insane, I mean sane. I'm also a dark choc and flavoured coffee junky which is not so great, but on the plus side I've always enjoyed exercising. Oh, and licoricey is my sister and invited me to join!

I am 56 and 5'5". Up until around age 50 I weighed between 135-140 and was always trying to lose a few pounds at that weight! Prior to that I weighed 125-130, which I feel is a great weight for me. I currently weigh 150 and need to stop the weight gain before it gets totally out of hand! I would love to get back down to 125-130 - that's where I feel the best. I am really looking forward to the next two weeks of clearing all the Holiday splurging out of my system and getting back on track to a healthy fit body.





I am 43, a mother of 3 active boys who works full time. My husband works long hours seven days a week. So our house can be chaotic. this year I am trying to take control of my eating and lose the extra weight that has been creeping on over the years.


I've been a healthy and active person for most of my life, until I hurt my back in a wrestling match in high school. I've struggled with serious back issues since then, often making it difficult for me to exercise. Being a wrestler also caused some strange relationships with food, including my body's consistent reactive hypoglycemia. I have a few hurdles, but am determined to get off some of the extra weight I gained.





I was born and raised in Hawaii with 2 sisters and a brother. Growing up, I was always considered the fat one in my family. Now I am 40 years old, married and have a 19 year old son. And still the biggest amongst my siblings. In high school, I was a cheerleader and running was a intergral part of practice time. Even after practice, I would take a run around my hometown, so I considered myself pretty fit during my high school years. I am no stranger to working out. After high school, that was when the pounds came on. Having a baby then basic life came into play and viola I am fat. I think I am obsessed with my weight. Been on all kinds of different diets. I am tired of the word diet!! So now I want to refocus my thinking to eating healthier and working out. I have recently rediscovered my love for running. I signed up for the 2008 Honolulu Marathon and while on vacation, I badly injured my ankle opting out of the marathon to recover. I went to a couple of doctors, went through weeks of physical therapy, then to acupuncture. Nothing helped! My sister brought me to a Bikram Yoga years ago and then I stopped going. So I reintroduced hot yoga into my workout regimen and I was well on the road to recovering from my ankle injury. I signed up for my first marathon, the 2009 HNL marathon and finished in 7:29:29. Thanks to Bikram yoga, I recovered in a couple of days. I continue to pursue running. I have completed a few 5k & 10ks and 3 half marathons and did the 2011 HNL marathon with my pr at 6:45:45. I still consider myself the back of the packers. But I do it for me because it makes me feel accomplished.

















In my late 20's and all through my 30's, I pursued weight loss mainly for the sake of others and I succeeded (and failed myself). I exercised six days per week (one hour each day). I took far too many vitamins. And I ate heavily processed low-fat food. Then, feeling invincible, I thought there could be no-consequences. After some consequences, and developing the ability to understand these consequences, I have now decided to use the intelligence I have to make intelligent choices about My Overall Health. In my 40's, I have abandoned _looking_ good on the outside for-others and am now pursuing _feeling_ good on The Inside and The Outside. . .For Myself.

I also own my own soil testing business and also have a conservationist job in the local government office.

I've had 2 spinal fusions in my 46 years and have had asthma for the last 25. The combination of chronic pain and trouble breathing has made it very hard to excercise regularly, and my habit of eating what my husband and son eat instead of what I should eat has resulted in about 50 lbs more than my 5' frame should carry. Recent diets have been effective, but pure torture for me to watch my family eat the ice cream, etc., while I'm stuck with a nuked cinnamon apple. I've used PeerTrainer a few times before, but always lost my motivation along the way. I have a really hard time sticking to a plan right now because my husband is working 2nd shift, and that makes it hard to plan meals and be motivated in the evenings. When he worked 1st shift we would go to the gym together, go walking together, etc. Since we started working these hours I've put on a lot of weight, and I just need to find my motivation and get moving. Although I like PT's tools, I think most of the advice about picking certain foods and eating raw diets is total BS. I try to avoid people who give out extreme advice or are only happy if they are a size Zero.
