Only need to lose about 10 pounds but can't seem to do it?

Even 10 pounds can make a difference with some health issues as well as the fit of your clothes as you age and it seems very difficult even to just lose these few pounds. Let's support each other in consistently eating for health and to just feel better about ourselves. People who need to lose alot don't seem to understand how it can still be a huge issue if you only need to lose a little so it is hard to find support - so, for those of you who don't have alot to lose, please join this group.

I'm in the same boat!! So frustrating.

I think that if I lost 10 lbs I would be happier with my body and not as self-conscious. I currently weigh 145 lbs and am 5'4". I know that I'm not huge or anything, but I don't like where I'm at. All my life I have been active in dance and exercising. Right now, I walk and run a couple of times a week for about 30-45 mins. I have also been taking an exercise class at our YMCA once a week for 30 mins. It targets my abs, butt and back. Also, I have always had a rather large chest (something I'm not happy about) . I am a size D-DD and only 25 years old.
My eating habits: I have never been a fan of soda, fried foods, chips or greasy food. So I have that going for me. :-) I think that I eat pretty healthy. Fruits, veggies, low fat dairy products, healthy cereal, lean meats, chicken, fish. My downfall is definitely chocolate though. I LOVE IT!! I have cut back and if I'm craving it, I will eat chocolate Teddy Grahams or fat-free chocolate pudding. But I still feel like I'm not doing enough to lose weight. Oh and I drink 8 glasses of water a day. Please help me figure out what I could do.

Hey all,

Just a suggestion, but if you go on Phase I of the South Beach Diet, you could lose all that weight in 2 weeks, or at least most of it. It's pretty challenging, but it's worth it.

My guess is that even though you're eating healthy foods, you're taking in too many calories. Try counting the calories that you eat (just to see), and taking a look at what you're actually consuming, and how much. You may be surprised!

And make sure to include every little snack along the way, if it's a handful of chips at work, a couple hersheys kisses, etc. They all add up!

2:59 couldn't agree more, especially when we're down to the last few. The 'margin of error' is much smaller when we're closer to our goal weights. Every calorie, every handful of this or that, every beverage - it all adds up and does so very quickly!
