Before:
April 20, 2008, about 184 lbs.

My Goal:
Develop healthy eating and exercise habits that I can stick to for life. Starting at 170.5 on May 23, 2014 for the last leg of the journey.

Disappointing note: After a series of setbacks over the past year, I'm restarting on May 6, 2015 at 171.5 (boo hoo). My goal is still 135, but it will take some time to get there.

About me:
I'm a 45 year old married woman currently living in SC. My husband eats the standard American diet (meat and potatoes) and I have been vegetarian since 1999. I have a hard time eating enough fruits and veggies, eat too many carbs, and my exercise plans usually fall flat pretty fast. I've been vegetarian for 14 years.

Diets I like:
Dr. Furhrman's Eat to Live. His new book, "The End of Dieting," is even better and easier to follow. I've also read Dr. Mark Hyman's The Ultramind Solution and follow his guidance regarding supplementation and elimination of dairy, wheat, and sugar from the diet. (I'm not 100% strict on this, but I'm very close.)

Workout of choice:
Hiking is my favorite when the weather is good.

My plan:
Follow Dr. Fuhrman's healthy eating plan and incorporate regular exercise into my life. I've also started juicing for some meals after watching both of Joe Cross's movies.

I need the most help with:
Consistency! with both exercise and eating right. I know what I need to do but I don't always do it.

Additional Info:
I had already lost 10 lbs. from my "before" photo before I joined PT...but it was off/on weight loss with lots of "exceptions" and "slips." I want to be more consistent this time around, in my eating as well as in my exercise. In the past, all of my healthy habits have gone south when I encountered a major life change.I think the biggest things that has contributed to my success are determination and my PT group - they are my conscience. Just logging what I eat and how much I exercise every day (and knowing that I'm going to do it) gives me the motivation to make good choices. And everyone is so encouraging when I'm being less than perfect!
