Very Off Topic

I just received the following e-mail and my heart rate is racing I'm so pissed! It comes from my sister-in-law's Maid of Honor:

Hi *****,

The girls in the wedding and I have been planning Melissa's shower. Just wanted to let you know we are sending out invites Friday. We decided since the invite list was so big to just do a desert table. We also decided to divided the cost @ the end. I believe their is 8 of us total hosting the shower ( 5 girls in the wedding, you, Susie, & Tammy) . The day of the shower we would like to meet about an hour before the shower begins to decorate. Let me know if you and the girls can.

Thanks, Melissa

I am SOOO pissed that it's just assumed that I'm chipping in, even tho no one has discussed this with me, nor have I offered or agreed to chip in. I am not in the wedding party, however, my two daughters are "Junior Bridesmaids". (That means I had to buy TWO dresses whereas all of the bridesmaids only had to buy one.)

This is my response to the e-mail:

Melissa,

This is the first I've heard that I'm "hosting the shower". Who decided this for me?

***** (my name)
----------------------------------
A little back ground: Everyone involved in this wedding is from a blue-collar town where most work in factories and no one is rich. My husband has been successful in his career and we are viewed by these people as being "rich" even tho we are not. Like everyone else, we have a mortgage and other bills and I'm a stay at home mom. We don't have any extra money to throw around right now.
Am I wrong to be furious that they assume I'm splitting the bill? Do you think I'm required to or obligated to in any way? Every other wedding experience I've had it's been the Maid of Honor or a friend of the bride's mother who holds the shower. (Having been a Maid of Honor twice, I have thrown TWO showers and never asked for assistance from anyone.)

Please give me your two cents on this. Thank you!
