Canned Fruit
OK so I know it's not as good for you as fresh fruit but I live by myself and fresh always goes bad before I can eat it all. If it's in a heavy syrup I rinse it first to get rid of some of the sugar. What do ou think? Any other suggeations, or comments.

many groceries sell fruit, cut up in those tupperware containers now. I buy them all the time for my kids. And it stays fresh for days.

I buy frozen berries - the raspberries, blackberries and blueberries are great! Then I just put some in a bowl and in like 2 minutes they're thawed, or I munch on them frozen!
Also, if you look closely at the canned fruit section, you can usually find a couple that are canned in water, or at least in natural juices, instead of in syrup. I don't believe that canned fruits in syrup really count as fruits, but I could be wrong. Also, I've noticed some "diet" ones lately, where the syrup is sweetened with splenda instead of sugar - maybe that'd be better? I'd still take my frozen fruit any day!
Also, you can buy just one or two bananas, and they're good for 5 days or so. Apples last a number of weeks, or longer, in the fridge. Oranges and grapefruits last a couple of weeks. So any of those are good for single gals living alone if you just buy a couple at a time!

you can definitely find canned pineapple in juice instead of syrup. And I saw peaches canned in water, too, although I haven't tried them.
I go to the grocery store several times a week, and I buy two or three pieces of fruit each time I'm there. Also, we went apple picking last fall, and came home with way too many apples, but they lasted for ever - we were still eating fresh apples two months later.
If you go out for lunch, pick up some fruit at the deli - it might seem crazy to pay a dollar for an orange you can get at the grocery for 50 cents, but if you're not going to eat fruit otherwise, it's worth it!
Finally, frozen berries are the best, but just be aware that some of them are sweetened.

Frozen vegetables yes, canned fruit only if absolutely necessary. For those of you following or transitioning to the Cheat System, you want to go heavy on the greens, and eat a very wide variety of fruit.
Grapefruits are an excellent fruit for breakfast. Research has shown that the combination of grapefruit and green tea can lead to dramatic reduction in cancer risk.
