losing pregnancy weight. The studies are wrong.
I recently read a study that said any weight that remains after 6 months post-partum will most likely stay permanently. I lost many pounds from the 6 - 9 month period, like I've heard in the past, 9 months on, 9 months off. I think that study is there to give an excuse to those women who want to remain heavier. You can get back to your pre-pregnancy weight if you want to.

I agree. I am just getting back to my prepregnancy weight two years later, but I'm getting back. i've talked to several women that say it can take up to two years. The first year, especially with your first baby, is all about management. You don't have time for yourself, much less healthy meal planning. At least that was the way I was. About a year later I began exerciseing and slowely losing more weight.

I was overweight before I got pregnant and was extremely careful of what I ate (but I did eat). I gained 27 pounds (my daughter was 7.5 pounds) and 2 weeks later I was down 18 pounds, with in a month after birth I was 3 pounds less then before. I know a lot of women who ate very healthy and gained less then 30 pounds and all of them were where they started after 1 month or so. I believe that if you are careful and choose good healthy foods you don't have to gain a lot of weight, of course medical conditions are an exception. They say to figure 6 - 8 pounds for baby, 4 - 6 pounds for placenta & tissue/blood loss, thats already 10 - 14 pounds gone after delivery. So unless you gain an excessive amount of weight you can be where you started from.
