Group details

Group Name: 40 something and trying to get healthy - Want to join us for the adventure?
Members: 3
Location: Anywhere 00000

Goals: Obviously to lose weight, but also to change the way we think about food and exercise, so that once we manage to take the weight off, we don't find it slowly creeping back on again.

Profile: This group is mixed gender, so it's for anyone in their 40's who thinks it's about time that they grabbed life by the horns instead of letting opportunities pass them by because of their weight.

Other Info: I realize that not everyone can post daily, so rather than beat ourselves up about that, let's just try to post regularly (even if it is just once a week) and encourage each other towards our common goal of losing weight. I am not the original group starter, but as people cycle in and out of this group, the goal is to be encouraging of each other even though this time of our lives doesn't always allow time to post daily!

Members profiles:
I am a 45 year old stay at home mother of one teenage son. I have a chronic illness, and I believe (what I've read) that healthy food and diet can be very beneficial in helping my illness and overall well being. Because of my illness and medication, I suffer from fatigue, so my activity at times can be very limited and on some days I find it difficult to do simple tasks like housework. Right now, exercise is limited to walking. On a positive note, I have a very supportive extended family that I enjoy spending time with. I love dogs and I have 2 mini-dachshunds, one which I try to walk every day (this is my exercise). He needs it, too. Dachshunds have a tendency to be overweight which often results in back problems. The other one won't walk, he just wants to be carried and take in the view.

I'm a working mom with 2 awesome kids (7 & 9). I am constantly on the go, and love to be active. I want to do a tri-athlon this summer, but I'm still learning to swim.

44 grandmother of 1 and mother to 2 boys... married to a great man who loves at all sizes... wanting to get healthy and stay healthy for me! all kinds of issues run in my family -- heart disease, diabetes, hypertension... Been gluten free for 4 years now.. I also have hashimoto's disease from years of not being diagnosed correctly with thyroid issues...
