65 years old and retired. Spend the summer driving a tour bus in a national park. Live most of the year in a 5th wheel trailer and spend the winters at a ski resort in NH

30's, married, 2 kids, run a business. I am really starting to get in shape and it took me a long time to get back.

I've been married to the same wonderful woman for 38 years. We have 4 sons. My job requires a lot of commitments in the evening, plus a fair bit of travel, but I can usually control my own schedule to find time for workouts.

I am a 43 year old male, father of 2, an 11 year old and 14 year old, self-employed professional, married for 20 years. In 2002 I weighed 210 pounds and was in terrible shape. I lost 35 pounds in 4 months and gained 5 pounds of muscle. I know weigh 194 but am more muscled. However, I have gained back some fat and feel frustrated. I very much want to reach my final goal of a 32 inch waist and low body fat with good muscle mass. My muscle mass isn't bad but I am now flabby.

I'm a former and still occasional computer professional who owns a golf course / bbq restaurant in the mountains. I'm an ex- college baseball pitcher and tennis player who has never lost my competitive spirit. Now I golf and practice martial arts.

I am 5'6" and 21 years of age, I never smoke and only drink socially. I am fit ex cept that I am getting unnecessary fats.

I am a 30 year old male who wants to eat better and get a fit, firm body.

Married father of two. I've lost near 100 punds in less than a year. http://www.paleodan.com

44, New Zealand. 205lbs, 5' 8". Want to lose 22 pounds.

I am a 47 yo single father of two high schoolers. I work as a freelance audio/visual tech for corporate events. I travel a lot and my schedule is never the same week to week. In College I played 3 yrs on my school's Rugby team. I would love to be in the shape I was then.

I'm a 49 y.o. man with two grown daughters and a six y.o. son. My wife and I started a nutrition program last summer. I lost 14 lbs in the first 9 days and went on to drop a total of 40 lbs and six inches off my waist in < 3 months. I feel better than I've felt in years and want to be in the best shape of my life when I hit 50. I want to support others in reaching their goals.

I am 43 years old, 5'11 and weigh around 245... and quite miserable with back, knee and sleeping problems. I also work a job that requires sitting most of the day. I am hoping this community can offer support as I try (again) to lose weight.

I'm 41 yr old dad of 2 little girls. They're great and I'm gaining weight like a mad man. I'm heavier than I've ever been and need to loose weight and live healthier. I don't have a support structure to help keep me on track. I found this site and I hope that there are others out there in my same situation.

30s, married, 2 year old daughter

22yr old college student in Canada. From being at a plateau of +20 pounds overweight to suddenly being 50 over, within a year. I've been sporadically going to the gym for the past 5 months, but I give up really easily.

50 year old college professor, composer, writer. Father of 2 sons, now 15 and 21.

I'm a 19 year-old college student in Madison, WI. I like being active and enjoy the outdoors but don't have the best self-motivation skills. I suppose I would say that I have a big motivation problem. I actually eat pretty healthy most of the time but loose a lot of my judgement when I party with my friends.

I'm 29 years old, and my wife frequently reminds me that "it will be harder to lose the weight, the older you get." We have 3 kids and 1 dog. Pretty normal, I'd say.

I'm a 22 yr old college student. I actually really like working out, but I'm also pretty good at finding other things to do and then noticing the time has just slipped away. I like biking, swimming, running, and especially team sports.

I'm a 36 year old man who has been married for one year. My wife and I are both obese and we would like to be good, healthy examples for our kids, when we get around to having them.

I currently weigh over 300 pounds. When I started Weight Watchers again last January, I was 309. I Dropped down to 273 before I started putting it back on again this summer. First it was all the various holiday and graduation parties that tempted my. Then, my Dad was diagnosed with cancer and was put in and out of the hospital and I just didn't have the energy to deal with his condition and fight my cravings.

I'm a man of many hobbies. I run, cycle, geocache, cook, read, mangle lumber (wood work) and mangle the English language (write). Professionally, I'm a database administrator and programmer.

29, married father of 3. I work in IT for a major midwestern university.

33 year old graphic designer. Work out 5-6 times a week. High Intensity spinning classes 4-5 times a week, resistance weight training 3 times a week. I will be training to become a certified spinning instructor in July.

Remember those "STOP THE INSANITY" infomercials. The lady lost over 200lbs. Its all about eating all the healthy food you want, as much as want, long as you want. In return, you speed up your metabolism and burn more fat. Of course, I know, a calorie is a calorie is a calorie, but I also know, "You are what you eat"... I am 29 years old and grew up in in the Washington DC area. Just moved moved to Myrtle Beach to get my shit together. Returning to college, improving my work ethic, exercising, eating healthy and working on being a better person. I plan to move back to DC in about 2 to 4 years.

Um, I'm kind of young, 16 yo. . Music is my life, and I have the best of friends. . Since I'm a teenager fast food is high in my diet. I've really cut it out now. I'm going to the beach in a month and want to look semi-good for it, even though I know a good healthy diet takes months.

41, married with 2 kids I hope to see group up and marry. I am looking to drop weight and get back into a regular workout schedule, boosting my energy and self-esteem.

I'm 26 and have been married for one year. I have no kids but I do have a chocolate lab named Bob. I teach history and coach football.

Photography, music and new technology are my hobbies! =D Sports? Tennis and handball, I love to watch and play..! Right now I'm in my final exams of 1st year of college.. Eversince I stopped playing handball (I trained 3 times/week, with 1h30 each training.. and handball trainings are very physical) I started gaining weight.. Right now I'm about 6"2' and I weight then 245lbs! My final goal is to reach maybe 180lbs...Thought I think I'm going to do this smaller goal by goal.. :)

I'm a 29 man, working full time. I never really had any weight problem. I use to walk to the University every day, but now, i'm working full time and not really having a really active life. I've gain some weight and I'm not used to seeing my body like that. My first language is french, but that has nothing to do with fitness, does it?

Married, male, 3 mostly grown children, Semi retired. Active in cycling club in warm months. Planning to try X country skiing this winter with cycling group. Also exercize at YMCA in group fitness classes. Weakness for too much breads and sweets.

I'm 39, journalist, attorney, writer who likes to garden, cook, and watch a lot of TV. I'm single, gwm, have a small group of friends. I do well when i'm with them, but alone, i get bored and start eating, especially at night.

I am 30 years old. Have been overweight since about 14. In the last 3 years I reached over 150 kg (my god, I can not believe it now, but it's true!) Since last year I have been reorganizing my eating habits and exercising. I have lost about 35 kg, so I have ~ 115 kg at the moment. However it seems that it's very difficult to loose these last 15-25 kg to reach my goal. I think I need some support! That's why I look forward to what I can get from this groups.

5'11", 285, 38 years old.

I'm a 30's professional male in NYC who is very health-conscious. I love food and cooking which is what gets me into trouble with my weight. I'm into Capoeira, biking, hiking and swimming. I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do but I quit that since I hurt my knee. I'm looking to lose some of my everlasting baby fat and stay motivated.

I am 38 years old and single, obviously! I have been in the IT field since college, almost 15 years. I love my work; gadgets, computers and technology in general are what I love. I remember, oh maybe 5-6 years ago, when I thought of myself as fat. I wore size 36 jeans then...now I'm @ size 42, I can't shop at the Gap anymore! That's very scary!

21 yr old college student who needs to get in shape

Retired male in late fifties, single and living alone. Mostly into volunteer work and self-improvement activities. I'd like to reduce the waistline and get some strength and stamina.

38 year old male. I went from being moderately overweight to being downright obese. I need to make changes before I completely screw up my health.

I just turned 40, and had my first baby... suddenly, I don't feel I have enough will to engage on a diet and exercise plan. I need help...

I am 40 years old, married, with three young children. I work a lot and have a lot of family obligations. I have let exercise slip and eat too much and the wrong kinds of stuff. Way too much fast food. I don't smoke, drink to excess, or use drugs, but I do use food as a drug at times.

I'm a 28 year old male what has gone through many transitions lately. Now that I am settling down, I want to be more organized and focus more on my health and welness.

Mid 30s. Soon-to-be father. College Professor. I have been doing well at exercising, but the weight isn't coming off. I guess it is time to make some more changes.

I am a 36 year old father of 4 girls. I have been a Network Admin for 13 years and went from 185 when I got married to nearly 290lbs. I have lost 50+ pounds in the past 4 months and now feel good enough to start adding daily exercise to my routine.

I just graduated with a BA in Political Science from Washington State University! Go Cougs! I am starting a sweet career and will be moving to San Francisco in early Feb!

36 years old. I work for the Ohio Department of Corrections. I've been married for 14 years and have 2 great kids. A little over 3 years ago I became a Christian and I feel that God inspired me to lose weight. I weighed 390+ lbs. at the time and I have since lost over 100 pounds. My overall goals are to get my weight down to 225 healthy pounds and to become more active in cycling hobby. I began following the weight watchers plan with my wife in July of 2006 and it seems to be working for me.

I'm a 45 yr old male, just finishing grad school and working with the homelss population of Richmond. I have a partner and three kids. I'm tired of being embarrassed at the beach, I'm tired of flab overhaning everything I wear. I want to take my shirt off, or look good in a speedo. I want heads to turn when I walk by. I want my chest to stop sagging so I can wear the silky triathlon wear that is very form fitting. I want washboard abs, and I want to look good naked or in anything I want to wear. I also want my waist back down to a size 32. I want to look lean and toned.

Father of 8, Veterinarian, ex (recently) soccer player. Soon to be hockey player (have decided to take up recreational hockey).

I am 26 years old, 250+ and ever since college my weight has steadily been increasing because of stress, college life and not exercising. I currently live out of the country and I have no access to equipment or a trainer. I am looking for some exercises that I can do at home and a plan that can be done in and around my home.

32 year fella from texas that move to Arkansas and then moved to DC. I was in pretty good shape when I was a little younger. I hated being thin but I liked a haviing a little extra weight on my body. I used to be very active, swimming, karate, gymnastic, lifting, the whole nine. School started stressing me out, got depressed, lost the Umpph then picked it up again and came to DC and BAM. Work life took over more than health.

Im 27 yr old latino. I am 5'8 and about 175lbs right now. My heaviest weight was 200lbs in 2001. Finally decided to start working out. Since then Ive been between 160 and 180 lbs, with 150 lbs being my lighest.

I'm a 23 year old college student. Have been running once a week about 3-4 k followed by some static. I want to progress to do workouts 3 x a week cos I heard its more effective. I want to run 2.4k under 12 mins.

I'm a 39 year old single man in Anaheim Hills, CA. I work long hours, and finding time to workout or to avoid fast food is incredibly tough.

I have been what I consider overweight all my life. In catholic elementary school I was labeled HUSKY and had to buy larger pants for the uniform. I have always battled wiht diets, getting down to a goal, but then relapsing and gaining back the weight.

I am a 22 year old business professional and ex-collegiate athlete. I played college football. After playing football for the majority of my life, I failed to continue the excercise routine after football ended. I need to be active and enjoy playing sports.

I'm a firefighter, and want to be in much better shape, despite being a fairly active person. I used to run (ran a marathon years ago), used (again, used) to play a lot of tennis. I'm 49, married, with 2 great kids (boys, 10 & 16).

volunteer wellness coach with 400 'clients'. challenged to manage my fitness by finding time for my own activity.

I am in my 40s. Married father of 4. Self proclaimed computer geek. Love computer games which doesn't lead to much excercise.

I'm a 34 year old male from Northern New Brunswick.

I'm a 5' 11", 38-year-old single male living in Boston.

I'm 43, married with two boys (14 and 11). I used to be physically fit and active, doing a few years in the Army in my 20's. But now, mid-career and almost mid-life, the weight added up as the focus is work and family. I want to be come more active, lose wieght, and build self-esteem. I have lost about 12 lbs in a year--slow and steady. But it's really hard to get the last 20 lbs off.

36 year old, father of two (3 year old and new-born). I am a Project Manager and therefore a desk jockey at work. I commute via bike a couple times a week. 28 miles round-trip. My eating habits need improvement. My weight-training is non-existant.

55-year-old, married, father of three adult girls, two grandsons. Retired military, currently working in law enforcement. Overall good health but not real happy with the way I look. More importantly, not happy with the borderline blood chemistry (insulin, cholesterol.) Want to avoid (delay as long as possible) starting any new meds!

I'm 22 and graduated from school a couple of months ago and now working for a consulting company in DC. I actually love to be active - playing all kinds of sports. I'm 5'9, 177, but used to be 155. I'd love to get down to 145 in a perfect world, but that's apparently not possible according to my trainer. He's set up a goal of around 170 but replacing some of the 12% body fat with muscle, and hopefully getting to around 6%. I know it's going to be a long process but getting the weight off and then keeping it there is important to me.

57 year old male. Retired from the Navy 21 May 2008. Hit 250 pounds on 15 May 2007 and scared the living day lights out of myself. Got a complete physical done and found out I had high blood pressure, high chloresterol, high blood sugar and a hernia. 15 May 2008, weighed around 180 lbs. No more Blood Pressure medications, no Cholesterol medications, blood sugar is totally normal and the hernia was surgically repaired August 15 2007.

Two sport athlete in college. I weighed 210 pounds at graduation and was in great shape. That was 10 years ago. I have a beautiful wife and 3 perfect children ages 3 and under. My career track could not be better, but as my income has risen, so has my pant size. I am now 311 pounds and I need to change my eating habits before I lose everything I have been blessed to gain.

I'm 34, married and have one child.

38 year old sales executive in the bay area

I am a 34yr old married guy. I am 6'4" and have ballooned to 250lbs. I would like to drop 40-50lbs through a healthier lifestyle. I have two dogs. I own a business which demands too much time, my health is becoming more and more a concern to me. My body is telling me that I am no longer a kid, my brain still thinks I am 23.

I am a 28 year old father of 1 plus one in the oven. I have always been a large man, but my current desk job has done nothing but add to my size. Just trying to get healthy and see my kids grow up.

Currently 37 6'2", with 2 toddlers. Really ballooned upwards at around age 30, up to 311 lbs. Spent the last 3 years exercising regualrly and watching intake, but medication kept me from losing. I've been off that medication now for a month or so, and I'm and ramping up the weightloss again to get to a healthy weight.

Im a 23 year old male, here’s my history: I started a landscaping company when I was 16 and therefore my work was my exercise, I gained a lot of muscle and trimmed that fat. I sold that company January 2007, since then my body has suffered. I started working out July 2007 in preparation of getting married in August 2007. Since then I have not been exercising or eat right. I recently went to the doctor and they weighed me in at 151. I feel like I have lost some muscle and my weight has risen 15 pounds in the past 2 months. It was merely a year ago I looked ripped and had a fat test done and was only about 5% fat and that felt great!

I am 36 years old weigh 116 kg (255lb), Was 126 (277lb) last year. I am married with 3 great kids, 8,2 and 7 months. For the last ten years I've been either a security officer or managing liquor stores, drinking and eating way too much and not getting near enough exercise.

54 yr old male - 6'2" 225 lbs

34 years old, 5'6 180lbs

Im a 17 year old man studying IT, and never really done alot of exercise and avoided it.

I am 26 years old and work in the Law Enforcement field. I served 6 years in the Army Reserves as well including a tour in Iraq. I have neglected my diet and health for the past several years and would like to get back in the shape I was upon completing Army Basic training in 2001. (At that time I weighed 154 lbs so I know my goal is gonna be tough but not impossible.) I have fluctuated over the past 4 or 5 years being as heavy as about 207 and as light as about 180. I realize that this goal is going to take several months to reach but am willing to make the sacrifices to obtain it. My diet and beer drinking as well as sedentary lifestyle have all contributed to my weight gains and I believe that is where I need to start to kick this problem in the butt.

Husband to Mandy and Dad to Abbie. Gave up work about 3 years ago to care for my disabled daughter and severely depressed wife. Things didn't really go to plan and started suffering with depression myself. The weight started piling on until about 6 months ago when I reached rock bottom and decided I had to turn my life around. I'm still overweight but a lot fitter and no longer require medication for depression. Still struggle with the amount of food I eat, especially in the evening.

I'm usually very active but stress lately has been keeping me from these activities. All of my friends are really athletic and I just want to match with them when we go out!

I am an average 37 yr old male. I am extremely interested in portion control, wish I could run, but can't because of 2 back surgeries. Usually active or at least I used to be before I bought a 2nd house that is new. Remodel/renovated my other house, so it kept me relatively busy. I have a problem with salt, I like it too much. Don’t really crave sweets, so I don’t eat enough fruits.

I am 27 years old. I have a beautiful family which consists of my gorgeous wife, and three precious daughters (Ashley, Lily, and Aubrey)
